Veteran Nollywood actor, Zack Orji has come under intense scrutiny on social media after leading supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a solidarity rally in Abuja, where participants, mainly Nollywood stars, praised the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and security, while also calling for an end to kidnappings across the country.
The rally, organised by the Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) movement under the slogan, “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria,” followed a major medical outreach programme that provided free consultations, treatments and medications to hundreds of residents, particularly low-income earners.

Orji, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the movement, addressed journalists during the event and urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reform agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.

The demonstration comes amid growing public concern over insecurity, with recent abductions reported in parts of Oyo and Borno states, as well as continued economic hardship linked to rising inflation and the high cost of living.

However, attention on social media quickly shifted from the rally itself to Orji’s appearance during the march. Videos and photographs circulating online showed the actor walking slowly and appearing physically frail, prompting a wave of reactions on X.

Several users questioned why celebrities were publicly supporting the administration despite widespread economic challenges.

One user, identified as @AdenolaOla…, wrote: “Nollywood actors declaring Tinubu is fixing Nigeria while millions of Nigerians are eating garri with no sugar and fuel is ₦1,200/litre. Is this ‘fixing’ or paid PR?”

Another user, @Dammyse…, dismissed the rally as “fake support,” alleging that some entertainers were seeking political relevance rather than addressing issues such as inflation and kidnapping

Another commenter, @CHILDwitGrace, accused celebrities supporting the president of misleading struggling Nigerians, while others suggested the actors were motivated by political interests.

While many on social media reacted in the negative, some users defended the right of public figures to openly support candidates and political causes of their choice, arguing that political affiliation should not be grounds for personal attacks.

The debate reflects the deep divisions that continue to shape public discourse around Tinubu’s administration. While supporters point to ongoing infrastructure projects, economic reforms and security interventions as evidence of progress, critics argue that many Nigerians are yet to feel the benefits amid rising living costs and persistent insecurity.

The controversy surrounding Orji’s appearance and political activism has further highlighted the increasingly prominent role celebrities play in Nigeria’s political landscape, where endorsements often generate as much debate as the policies being promoted.

Veteran Nigerian singer, SkyB, has said despite paving the way for Port Harcourt artists, the reigning crop of musicians from the city haven’t been supportive.

Speaking in a recent episode of the KAA Truth podcast, the ‘Pray For Me’ crooner said he assisted some Port Harcourt artists including Mr. 2Kay and Timaya when he held way but since he fell from grace, they have abandoned him.

SkyB said despite not assisting Burna Boy directly, he feels the Grammy-winning singer should have supported him to return to fame through collaboration or financial assistance.

He claimed that he would have received much assistance if he were an Igbo or Yoruba artist.

“I once gave a PA to the Governor an artiste’s number and he called the artiste and told him he wants him to perform with me at an event and the artiste declined that he doesn’t want to share stage with me. The artiste rejected the contract because he doesn’t want me to be part of the deal.

“These are brothers I have helped in the past. I helped many artists like Mr. 2Kay and Timaya. We made sacrifices for Port Harcourt music industry. We invested a lot of resources.

“What is annoying me most now is Burna Boy coming into limelight and not remembering me and those who paved the way for Port Harcourt musicians. He is supposed to support me financially or collaborate with me to rejuvenate my career. That is the problem I am having. Assuming I am a Yoruba or an Igbo man, maybe they could have considered helping me. But because I am from Rivers the envy is too much,” he lamented.

Famous Nollywood comic actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly called Osuofia, has described his adventure into acting as “an accident”.

The veteran explained that he wanted to remain a scriptwriter but his colleagues, who noticed his comedy skills behind the scenes pressurized him into acting.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Selah Meditate podcast, Owoh said, “My coming in front of the camera was an accident. I was a scriptwriter behind the scenes and people started telling me to start performing in front of the camera.

“I remember ATV created a 7-minute programme for me to do stand-up comedy in the 80s. They told me to come in front of the camera because I was making people laugh behind the camera. With much pressure, I came in front of the camera. And I saw that what I was doing people were buying it so that was how my acting career began.”

On the downside of his career, Owoh said being famous robbed him of his freedom.

“Fame took away my freedom. A lot of people want to be celebrities, they only know the benefits but not the downsides. When you become famous you can’t do a lot of the things you were doing freely before. You become restricted in a lot of ways,” he explained.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, has reacted to the current trend of some producers casting actors based on social-media fame rather talent. 

Speaking in a recent episode of the Selah Meditate podcast, the thespian said the trend is isn’t a threat to talented actors.

He argued that social media-fame can never replace real talent.

“I don’t think social-media fame is replacing real talent. It can’t. There is no way social media-fame can replace real talent,” he stated.

DAILY POST reports that a cross section of Nigerian actors including Shine Rosman, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Osereme Inegbenebor, recently accused Nollywood filmmakers of favouring beauty, social media popularity, physical endowment and even complexion over real talent in separate interviews. 

Despite the repeated allegations, Nollywood filmmakers haven’t done much in addressing it.

Social media-fame can’t replace real talent – Nkem Owoh

A British businesswoman who founded the MOBO Awards, Kanya King, is dead.

Kanya King reportedly died on June 3, 2026, after a battle with colon cancer. She was 57.

The MOBO Organisation announced the sad news in an official statement shared on Instagram on Friday.

“It is with immeasurable sorrow that MOBO Organisation announces the passing of its Founder and CEO, Kanya King CBE, on 3 June 2026 after a courageous battle with colon cancer,” the organisation wrote in a lengthy post.

DAILY POST reports that Music of Black Origin, popularly known as MOBO, is an annual British music awards programme founded in 1996 by Kanya King.

Kanya was born to an Irish mother and a Ghanaian father in Kilburn, north London, on February 12, 1969.

Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede has criticised the way the President Bola Tinubu administration is handling the insecurity in the country. 

The thespian said the current regime’s approach to the escalating insecurity in the country shows it lack a sense of humanity. 

In a recent Instagram post, Jegede said insecurity alone is not the problem but the government’s lackadaisical approach towards tackling it.

She wrote, “Nigeria government lacks a sense of humanity.

“@Asiwajubat @officialoluremitinubu Nigerians are not doormats nor people you just prey on. Crimes happen everywhere in the world, it is the fact that Nigerians know that no one will ever come looking for them is the issue. 

“These atrocities have not been tribal, religious nor class-based.”

Nigerian government lacks sense of humanity – Actress Yvonne Jegede

Rapper Illbliss has emphasised on the need for Nigerians to be more receptive of non-indigenes in their states and shun inflammatory remarks against non-indigenous residents.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Outside The Box podcast, the ‘Aiye Po Gan’ crooner used the Igbos in Lagos as a case study of non-indigenous residents’ contributions to development.

Illbliss noted that the Igbos have contributed significantly to the Lagos economy despite not being indigenes of the state.

He said it is regrettable that Nigerians are still struggling with tribalism and religious bigotry after decades of coexisting as a country.

“The Igbos have given a lot to the Lagos economy in terms of trade and commerce. I wonder how this town will be if you told every Igbo man to leave. So, I’m always shocked whenever I hear comments like, ‘If you’re not from Lagos State, go back to your state.’

“We have no business being where we are as a country. We have no business not being accommodating of each other. But sadly, we are still plagued by tribalism, ethnic and religious divides,” Illbliss remarked.

The rapper said Nigeria’s situation makes him wonder sometimes whether it should have been a single country in the first place.

Popular Nigerian streamer, Peller, has engaged his lover, Jarvis, amid pregnancy rumours.

The engagement took place in Ghana on Wednesday night.

Sharing a video of the marriage proposal on Instagram on Thursday, Peller hinted at plans for their wedding.

He wrote: “Forever starts now. She said YES, my safe place, and my greatest blessing. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and making memories together. Now excuse us… we have a wedding to plan.”

DAILY POST reports that this comes a few weeks after Peller hinted that, “My baby with Jarvis is coming soon.”

Nigerian reality star and comedian, DeeOne, has rebuked popular gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori, for apologizing to Nigerians over her remarks on insecurity.

DAILY POST reports that the singer had during a live prayer session claimed that the Nigeria government is working on security and urged the public to pray for President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies.

Alaseyori stated this while reacting to ongoing public outcry over the abduction of several school children and teachers in Oyo State.

Reacting to the backlash, the singer in a video on Wednesday tendered a public apology to Nigerians.

In response to the apology, DeeOne, who claimed that Alaseyori made the remarks while in the spirit, blasted her for doubting the spirit of God that is leading her.

While claiming that she apologized under pressure, DeeOne stated that Alaseyori chooses to displease God to please men just because of backslash. “pressure made you apologize. You have to displease God to please men.”

“Mrs Yinka Alaseyori, first of all, I want to thank you and thank God for your ministry. God has used you a lot but what you did today, please don’t ever try it again. There’s a way that seemeth right to man but the end is destruction. You were in the spirit when you were saying those things that you were saying that people should pray. I want to believe that it was God that was speaking through you, but you lost an opportunity to evangelise the world.

“I can bet 100% that you did not seek the face of God before you made that apology video. Na pressure makes you go do that thing (apology), you apologize because people were dragging you. Maybe you are looking at it that they no go call you again for events or people would not like you. The Bible says I would look up to the hills, from where my help comes from. No be all of us wey dey drag go feed you. If you’re in doubt, you would have to go back to God on your knees and ask God. You’re a minister of God and not just an entertainer.

“Is what you said wrong? ‘No, but pressure made you apologize. You have to displease God to please men, and there would be spiritual repercussions. I hope you know that. Please don’t ever under any circumstances do that again. I don’t know who advised you but whoever advised you did not give you good advice. Under no circumstance should you try this again. I’m sure that the host of heaven will be so disappointed but God is a forgiven father.

‘You displeased God to please men’ – DeeOne rebukes Yinka Alaseyori over apology [VIDEO]

Popular rapper, CDQ has claimed that the Nigerian music industry is controlled by powerful cabals and gangs.

Speaking in a recent interview with content creator, JBrandy, the ‘Nowo Soke’ crooner also claimed that it is difficult for artists who don’t belong to any gang or cult group to thrive in the music industry. 

He said artistes, who made it in the music industry without associating with any gang or cult group, were lucky.

“The music industry has turned to a game of belonging to a particular caucus, gang or cult before anyone could actually help you. 

“So, if you are able to achieve success in the music industry without associating with any cabal or cult group, you should be grateful to God,” he said. 

CDQ added, “If you don’t belong to a particular cult group, you might probably spend a lot of money and not see anything in return,”

The rapper called on artists, record label executives and other stakeholders in the music industry to change the trend of associating gangsterism with music business.
