2026 Ballon d’Or: Declan Rice picks preferred player to win award

Arsenal and England midfielder, Declan Rice, has said he prefers Harry Kane to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Rice has made the 30-man nominees’ shortlist for the second year running.

But he is supporting his international team mate Kane to take the award home.

Rice told Sky Sports: “Second year in a row nominated, I’m very proud. You know who I want to win.

“I’d love to see Harry Kane win it. I wish him all the best in that.”

Kane is considered one of the frontrunners for the Ballon d’Or along with Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 33-year-old scored 61 goals in 51 matches as Bayern won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles last season.

Actress Tope Osoba buried amid tears [VIDEO]

The late Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, has been buried.

Tope was buried on Thursday September 10, 2026 at Iperu Remo cemetery in Ogun State.

A video from the burial ceremony captured how the actress was buried amid tears.

The ceremony was attended by her family, friends and some Nollywood stars including Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan, Basira Badia and Foluke Daramola.

DAILY POST reports that the actress died on August 4, 2026.

Tope’s burial was initially scheduled for August 13 before being postponed following the public outcry over the circumstances surrounding her death.

Following his alleged involvement in the actress’ death, the police arrested and detained her lover, Prophet Itunu.

Ballon d’Or 2026: Marquinhos speaks on PSG teammate winning award

Paris Saint-Germain captain, Marquinhos, has said he hopes that one of his teammates wins this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The Brazil international was among the PSG players nominated for the prestigious individual award.

Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves, Fabián Ruiz, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Willian Pacho and Ousmane Dembélé were also nominated alongside Marquinhos.

Ferran Torres was later confirmed as the 10th PSG nominee, giving the club a record 10 players on the 30-man shortlist.

“I hope that it will be someone from PSG,” Marquinhos said at a press conference, as quoted by Get French Football News.

“We have very good players. I can’t pick out one. It is an individual award. We won important titles.”

PSG won the Ligue 1 title and their second consecutive UEFA Champions League crown during the 2025–26 season.

Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, has named two of his players who deserve to be shortlisted for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Speaking during his post-match interview after Barcelona defeated Feyenoord 5-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday, Flick said Raphinha and Pedri deserved to be included in the nominees for the award.

Raphinha and Pedri were not named among the players shortlisted for this year’s Ballon d’Or on Monday.

“They [Pedri and Raphinha] are too good not to be there [30-man nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or],” Flick said.

“But we cannot change it. But they are fantastic players and deserve to be there.”

During the game against Feyenoord, Raphinha scored twice, with Pedri providing an assist.
