UCL final: Merson reveals Arsenal’s secret weapon against PSG

Former England midfielder, Paul Merson, has claimed that set plays are the secret weapon that Arsenal must use against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

The Gunners are hoping to lift their first European title in Budapest on Saturday.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Merson said their advantage against the Ligue 1 champions will be their physicality.

According to him, PSG will struggle to defend corners and free-kicks.

“I think they’ve got a chance, especially with the way they do set-plays,” Merson said.

“Anytime they get a set-piece will be like a penalty because PSG are a small team, they’re a good team but they’re a small team.

“I think PSG will struggle with that. You’re talking about one of the best forward lines against one of the best defences.”

UCL final: I would bet on them – Wenger predicts Arsenal vs PSG clash

Legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said he would “bet” on his former club winning the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners will be hoping to win the trophy for the first time in their history this weekend.

Wenger came close in 2006, and according to him, that team was “13 minutes away” from achieving it.

He is now backing Mikel Arteta’s men to bring the trophy back to the Emirates.

“I want this trophy to go to the Emirates because it’s missing there,” Wenger told the UK Mirror.

“We touched it before — we were thirteen minutes away from winning it — so you want it to happen this time.

“Overall, I believe this is a stage where we can grab it. I still believe it’s fifty-fifty in the final, and if I had to bet, I would bet on Arsenal more than on Paris Saint-Germain.”
