Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afod, has called out the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over the poor state of hospitals, roads, schools, and other livelihood needs in Ose Local Government Area.

DAILY POST reports that Afod, who has been pleading with the state government for almost a month, however called the governor out on Monday evening for ignoring citizens’ livelihood needs.

While revealing that some communities have been without power supply for the past 20 years, Afod noted that Idoani has been in darkness for eight years.

“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, you think I will keep quiet if you ignore my plea for Ose Local Government. No, I’m not keeping quiet. I’m calling again on the Chairman of Ose Local Government, Hon CK Ojo, let’s watch this video together. This is CAC nursery and primary school in Idoani, look at another school under the same Ose LGA.

“All the teachers have run away, all the children in these communities no longer attend school. There’s no accessible road to the communities, and you are at peace managing the resources of the state poorly the way you like. There’s no accessible road to all the communities in Ose LG.

” The health system is totally bad, they have closed down all the general hospitals in Idoani. There’s no commercial bank in this area again. Governor Aiyedatiwa call the Chairman, House of Rep representatives, those in House of Assembly and the Senator in that constituency and work with them. How long will Ose Local Government continue like this?, he asked.

Nollywood actor, Portable, has told his ex-wife, Fatimo Momoh, to bring his child to him.

This is coming a few hours after Fatimo called out the actor for abandoning her with their 10-year-old son, Mahbub, for the past eight years.

Reacting to her in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Portable told Fatimo to bring the Mahbub to Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital where he resides.

He further promised to take responsibility for Mahbub’s education and feeding if Fatimo is double sure that he’s the biological father.

“Fatima, I’m the one that did Mahbub’s naming ceremony when he was born. And if you’re very sure that I’m his biological father, if you’re double sure that if I decide to do a DNA test, the result won’t prove otherwise, bring him down to Ogun state tomorrow.

“I’m not scared of taking responsibility for the child. Bring my son to me in Abeokuta if truly I’m the father”, the actor stated.

Nollywood actress, Sunshine Rosman has raised alarm over the worsening hardship, insecurity and poverty in Nigeria, questioning when citizens and leaders will finally take decisive action.

In an emotional outburst, the actress lamented the economic situation in the country, the rising poverty rate, and the continued loss of lives due to violent attacks, particularly in parts of Northern Nigeria.

Speaking tearfully, Rosman said Nigerians appear to have normalized suffering despite the scale of the crisis.

“When are we going to wake up as Nigerians? When is it finally going to be enough?” She asked.

According to her, the economic challenges alone were overwhelming, but the persistent killings and displacement of innocent people had made the situation even more heartbreaking.

“We can’t even begin to talk about the economy right now the poverty rate, the lack of infrastructure in this country.

“But as if that’s not bad enough, innocent people are being slaughtered,” she said.

The actress also expressed concern about communities being forced to abandon their homes due to fear and insecurity, noting that many citizens feel abandoned and unprotected.

“Lives are being lost for nothing, and people have to migrate from their towns, homes and villages because they know that nothing will be done,” Rosman lamented.

Rosman further urged Nigerians not to remain silent in the face of the growing hardship and insecurity affecting the country.

“Nigeria’s hardship, insecurity and suffering can no longer be ignored,” she added.

Her comments come amid the tragic deaths, attacks and loss of properties in many parts of the country.

Fatima, the alleged wife of Nigerian actor, Olu Olowogemo, professionally known as Portable, has called him out on social media for abandoning her with their 10-year-old son.

Sharing the picture of their alleged marriage, she accused Portable of abandoning her since their son was two years old.

Fatima, who also accused the actor of deceiving her into the marriage, explained that it was when her pregnancy was eight months that she realized that Portable already had five children with two women.

While soliciting support from the public, Fatima, who has been living in an uncompleted building, named singer Pasuma as a witness of her marriage with portable.

“Nigerians please come to my rescue. I’m Fatima Momoh. Portable and I met at Ire Polytechnic. He came with his mother and brother Segun to ask for my hand in marriage.

“After we got married, he confessed to me that he had five children with two women in the past. As at when he told me this, my pregnancy was already eight months,” she said.

Veteran musician, Baba Fryo has said it is now difficult to secure a hit song, stressing that most singers are resorting to stunts for virality.

Speaking in a recent episode of the I Say What I Say podcast, the veteran singer claimed that the recent controversy of Wizkid comparing himself with the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, was a stunt, aimed at promoting his joint EP with Asake, ‘Real.’

“It take a lot to get a mega hit now. Some go even do some kind stunt. Shey you dey see the one with ‘Wizkid pass Fela’; all these ones na stunt.

“A lot of artists spark controversy on purpose so that people will stream their songs. I takes a lot to get a hit now because they have raised the bar so high,” he expressed.

Baba Fryo explained that during his days, bagging a hit was easier because it depends on the quality of music and genuine public acceptance with minimal promotion.

He blamed industry players, including DJs and music executives as well as artists themselves for the current bottlenecks in securing hit songs.

He alleged that some DJs and music executive sabotage quality music at the expense of trends.

The veteran musicians urged Nigerians artists and music executives to return to prioritising quality music over trends and social media virality.

Wizkid used comparison with Fela for promotion – Baba Fryo

Maverick singer, Seun Kuti has claimed that his father, the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, didn’t restrict his wives from having affairs with other men.

He further claimed that this was one of Fela’s greatest mistake, alleging that some of the women eventually contacted HIV from their other partners and transferred it to the late singer.

Speaking during a recent Instagram livestream, Kuti said contrary to the speculations that Fela was the one who gave his women the disease, he was the victim.

He said, “Fela made many mistakes. One of the mistakes he made -one day, I saw a video of a lady online saying why are people praising Fela’s legacy despite him giving women HIV and dying of AIDS.

“I said, ‘Oh, Fela you see yourself?’ If Fela was a traditional man, he would still be alive. I will tell you something about him that you might not have known, Fela’s women all had other men.

“Fela did not keep his women to himself. He believed that as he is free to sleep with all the women, the women are also free to meet other men. His law was that they shouldn’t bring the men to his house.

“My father doesn’t leave his house to sleep with other women outside, so it was his women who brought HIV home to him. Nobody is perfect. Everybody make mistakes. But Fela is a man that is on the side of humanity.”

A few days after the development, Blessing CEO was dragged online over allegations that her cancer claim was fraudulent. She was accused of editing a cancer patient’s medical report to make it appear that the report was issued to her.

Speaking in an interview amid the backlash, she made a U-turn on her earlier claim, saying, “I don’t have stage 4 cancer. That was a miscommunication.”

Reacting to the development, netizens condemned her action and demanded return of money donated to her.

A new twist has emerged in the saga as the self-acclaimed relationship expert and her lover IVD, a Lagos-based celebrity auto dealer, have now deactivated their social media accounts.

Blessing CEO, IVD deactivate social media accounts amid cancer controversy

Popular Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor also known as Mama G, has opened up about the financial struggles faced by many actors in the Nigerian film industry, blaming the situation on the lack of royalties for their work.

Speaking during an appearance on the podcast/show “Curiosity Made Me Ask”, hosted by Isbae U, the actress said many performers only receive a one-time payment for films they feature in, regardless of how often the movies continue to generate revenue.

According to her, this is why some actors are forced to publicly ask for help despite years of working in the industry.

“The problem why you see us beg is because they don’t give us royalties. We just work and toil so hard, and then that peanut, that money you gave us on board to come and shoot for you, is the only thing we get.”She said.

Ozokwor compared the situation with what goes on in more developed film industries, where actors continue to earn from their work long after production has ended.

“Go and look at the smallest actors in developed countries. Every work they do fetches them money every day of their lives.”

She added that in those countries, royalties continue even after an actor’s death, helping their families remain financially secure.

“Even when they are gone, their families still live on that. We, we are still working hard.”

The veteran actress noted that the lack of residual income has pushed many Nigerian actors to explore alternative platforms, particularly YouTube, where they can earn directly from their content.

“That’s why everyone is running to YouTube,” she said.

Singer, Omah Stanley Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has expressed deep concern over the reduction in the quality of Nigerian music and Afrobeats in general, in recent years.

In a recent interview with ViewsFrance, the Soso hitmaker accused his colleagues of not putting effort into music-making anymore.

He alleged that a lot of artists are after quick money and fame and doesn’t care about musical depth or lyrical substance.

He explained that the trend is affecting Afrobeats and the African culture negatively, especially overseas.

The singer urged his colleagues to improve their craft and give the new generation quality music.

Omah Lay said, “Nigerian Music is drifting towards a place where artists are not putting so much efforts in the art anymore.

“And that is also hurting my culture. Most artists are just playing with music these days and really not trying to improve the sound and the whole creativity around it.

“It is just quick money and it is really dipping the audience and the new generation, that level of music is what they are growing to and they are even doing worse.

“I don’t want to blame the globalisation of Afrobeats for that but that could also be one of the reasons. Generally, it is a good that that Afrobeats to the world is happening and people are getting to know us from our music. But I just wish we could strive to raise the bar a little more with the craft.”
