Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said taking a position in the government won’t stop him from being an artiste.

During a recent livestream with Davrel, the singer mentioned that if he ever decided to become a government official, he would still be performing.

Davido noted that former president of Haiti, Michel Martelly, was still performing as a musician during his presidency.

“If I ever decide to work in government, I would still be performing. I don’t think that stops anything.

“Obviously, it won’t be as much as before. Michel Martelly was a musician while he was president of Haiti, and he still performed. He even went on tours during his presidential vacations,” he stated.

Davido disclosed that he is no longer passionate about going into politics, stressing that observation about other celebrities who joined politics was making him weigh his political ambition.

He claimed that most Nigerian celebrities who transitioned from entertainment to politics haven’t been successful.

He added that he was previously interested in politics, but the reality on ground has made him skeptical.

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Yvonne Jegede has appealed for the release of social media blogger, Justice Crack, saying his continued detention is becoming “embarrassing.”

In a video message, Jegede acknowledged that Justice Crack had acted wrongly as civilians should not interfere in military matters.

“We have come to understand that he has done wrong. We have also come to understand that a civilian should not dabble into military affairs. We accept that,” she said.

“I am coming on his behalf, his wife, kids and associates to say please release him back to his family. Please send him back home,” she added.

“It’s becoming embarrassing that this is where we are having to flex muscle; that being said, also remember that times are hard; it is quite unfair and inhumane to take a breadwinner from his family,” she said.

‘I’m begging for release of Justice Crack’ – Actress Yvonne Jegede

Nigerian singer Korede Bello has advocated for couples to have more children, claiming that bringing more people to the world would significantly increase the chances of geniuses being born.

Speaking in a video broadcast, Bello noted that the late music genius Michael Jackson, who was the seventh child of his parents, wouldn’t have been born if his parents decided to have fewer children.

He lamented that many people are now having just one child or fewer children.

He appealed to parents to have many children, stressing that the world needs more musical geniuses like Michael Jackson.

Bello said, “I have been wondering – what if Michael Jackson’s mother had stopped at two or six kids? He was the seventh. Imagine a world without him just because she chose fewer children. Now many people are having just one child. It is very rare to find a young couple with three kids these days.

“What is going with this fewer kids people are having nowadays. I understand that the economic situation limits our desires to populate the earth. But how are we going to continue like this? Are we ever going to get to a place where the house will be filled with children again? We need more Michael Jacksons.”

Carter Efe, popular Nigerian streamer and champion of the recent celebrity boxing match, has lamented delayed payment of his N50 million prize.

DAILY POST reports that Carter Efe defeated singer Portable in a celebrity boxing fight on Friday to win the N50 million prize.

Reacting to his defeat, Portable alleged that the match judges crowned Carter Efe was scripted by the organizers to avoid paying the N23 billion stakes by fans who placed bets on his winning.

However, speaking in a new video on social media, Carter called out the organizers over delay in payment of the N50 million prize money.

“Dem never give me my money oo. I never see N50 million ooo. I nearly die for that fight, I never see the N50 million. Make dem pay me the N50 oo,” he lamented.

Grammy-nominated Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has claimed that he has been blacklisted in the Nigerian music industry for about 13 years due to his style of music.

He explained that because his late father Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and his contemporaries used their music as a form of protest against bad governance, the government invested heavily in vain artists while targeting conscious musicians.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Saleh Meditate podcast, Kuti said government’s interference has significantly affected the quality and impact of modern Nigerian music.

He, however, said being blacklisted in Nigeria doesn’t affect him much, stressing that the country is just a fraction of his fanbase.

He said, “The impact of Fela and his contemporaries who spoke truth to power sacred the government. They made the government realised the power of artistry. So, the government invested more in artists who don’t make conscious music than artists who sing about realities.

“When I am in Nigeria, I don’t fear to say whatever I want to say. That is a lot of people are saying that I should be cancelled. I have been cancelled for about 13 years now after I performed conscious music at former Lagos State Governor Ambode’s event. Even before then, my music was heavily restricted.

“I have been cancelled for long. People think I am not cancelled because I am doing well. Nigeria has cancelled me long time but Nigeria is just like a really small percentage of my market. So, being cancelled doesn’t really affect me.”

He added that artists who are scared of being blacklisted are only scared because Nigeria makes up the bulk of their fanbase.

Maverick singer Seun Kuti has ruled out reconciliation with Afrobeats star, Wizkid, declaring that their rift is lifelong.

DAILY POST recalls that Seun Kuti and Wizkid fell apart after the latter claimed he was greater than Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti in response to the former’s directive to fans to stop comparing the Ojuelegba crooner to the late music legend.

When asked in a recent podcast if he has settle his beef with Wizkid, Seun Kuti said he can’t reconcile with the Starboy boss because he disrespected his late dad.

The host asked: “Have you and Wizkid settled your Beef?”

Kuti replied: “It is on for life. I don’t have anything to say about him but it is on for life. You don’t say things about my dad and then it is fine. There is no coming back from that.”

A Nigerian doctor based in Canada, Arinze Onwumelu, has advised singer Portable to undergo a medical brain examination after his celebrity boxing bout with skit maker Carter Efe.

The bout, held over the weekend in Lagos, ended with Portable on the losing side.

DAILY POST reports that the fight drew widespread attention from fans and public figures, sparking conversations across social media after the ‘Zazuu’ crooner was beaten.

In a social media post and a video that circulated online on Monday, Onwumelu, also known as Dr Zo, recommended that Portable undergo a brain scan, particularly Magnetic Resonance Imaging, to check for any internal injuries that may have resulted from the encounter.

According to him, Efe landed several punches on delicate parts of Portable’s head, raising concerns that the singer could face a subdural haematoma, a potentially dangerous brain condition.

“This is an exhibition match meant for entertainment, not a real fight to harm anyone. The contenders are not expected to fight to that extent.

“Or does it mean Efe didn’t get the memo or wasn’t properly informed? I watched the whole video; the kind of punches he delivered means Portable may never recover from them.

“Anybody who knows Portable should take him to the hospital for MRI and brain test; there may be an artery that might have been damaged.”

The physician further advised organisers of such events to make protective headgear compulsory for participants to reduce the risk of serious head injuries.

Before stepping into the ring, Portable had expressed confidence in his fitness and ability to defeat Efe, having previously knocked out rapper Speed Darlington and actor Charles Okocha in earlier celebrity boxing matches.

Nigerian singer and rapper, Ice Zamani, has shared more details about his lifestyle overhaul during his weight loss journey.

The ‘Oleku’ crooner revealed that he is celibate and has also completely ditched smoking.

Relishing his transformation on social media, Ice Prince said he felt “unchained and saved.”

On his X handle, he wrote, “Quitting sex and cigarette is by far the best decision I ever made in my life. From chronic smoker to nonsmoker. God is the greatest!!! Feeling unchained and saved.”

The rapper added he has also ditched alcohol, soda, energy drinks, and bread, for over a year.

He expressed his desire to continue his current lifestyle for the rest of his life, stressing that he feels “good.”

Famous Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has opened up on why she lost interest in attending church service.

The actress who made the revelation in a Snapchat video on Sunday, stated that she stopped going to church because attention often shifted to her rather than the service.

While explaining that she’s always the one they take pictures of, the actress said she now joins church service online.

Akindele said “Anytime I go to church, I am always the one they take pictures of. So I will join online.”
