Afrobeat superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been named an inductee for the 2026 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States.

The organisers announced Davido as part of this year’s class ahead of the induction ceremony scheduled for June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside.

The recognition places him alongside entertainment figures honoured for their influence on Black culture and global music.

Other  inductees listed included Ludacris,Atlanta-based artiste and philanthropist, Paul  Morton, renowned gospel singer and Maynard Jackson, former Atlanta Mayor.

The feat has added the “Timeless” crooner  to the list of African artists previously recognised by the organisation, including late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame was created by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus to honour people who have shaped Black entertainment and music.

It recognises Black entertainers and cultural figures who have influenced music and entertainment around the world, with inductees receiving plaques placed along the walkway in Atlanta in recognition of their impact on Black culture.

Davido’s recognition for the walk of fame is coming when he is marking 15 years on stage as a music star.

He had on Thursday shared a post on his X page(formerly Twitter), “God is the best of all planners! 15 years in da game”, reflecting on his journey so far.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Davido, born in Atlanta,Georgia, began his music career professionally in 2011, and started working on his debut studio album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’,a mixture of Afrobeats and hip hop.

He made his music debut as a member of the group KB International, and rose to fame after releasing “Dami Duro”, the second single from ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012).

Within a decade and half, Davido has delivered several hit records, including five studio albums; Omo Baba Olowo (2012),A Good Time (2019),A Better Time (2020),Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025).

He has secured several nominations and awards on the global stage, with three nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards (2024), including Best Global Music Album for Timeless.

Davido to be inducted into Black Music Walk Of Fame

Afrobeats star, Adekunle Gold has relished being blessed with a music-loving family, revealing that apart from him and his wife, Simi, who are both musicians, their 5-year-old daughter, Adejare Kosoko, is already exhibiting traits of a potential musician.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Great Day 20 podcast, Gold said he has noticed his daughter’s interest in music, stressing that she could become a musician in the future.

“It is interesting to be married to another fantastic singer-songwriter and now our daughter is already giving signs that she might be one for the music as well,” he revealed.

During the interview, Adekunle Gold also debunked reports that he and his wife recently welcomed a set of twins.

He clarified that contrary to the rumours, they welcomed a boy.

“My wife and I didn’t give birth to twins, it is just internet rumours. We have a son,” he said.

Adekunle Gold and Simi got married in a private ceremony in January 2019.

They welcomed their first child, Adejare, in May 2020.

Controversial Nigerian street-pop artiste, Portable, has been involved in a lone accident a night to his newborn baby’s naming ceremony.

The incident happened on Thursday night in Ogun State, after he experienced a brake failure during his preparation for the ceremony.

Sharing details about the incident, Portable revealed he escaped death after he drove his car into a ditch to avoid colliding with another car.

Speaking in a trending video on his Instagram story, the singer said, “My fans, join me to appreciate God. I was just driving out this evening when the accident happened.

“Nothing do me oo, I came out unhurt . I suddenly realized that the car had failed brake. My people have arrived here (at the scene of the incident) I thank God they are not here to carry my corpse.

“I’ve already bought two cows for my son’s naming ceremony. Thank God that the accident didn’t happen when trailer was passing on the road.”

Bewaji had given birth during Portable’s boxing fight with Carter Efe on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Popular Nigerian singer Burna Boy will join Colombian pop icon Shakira to perform the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup titled “Dai Dai.”

It will be the second consecutive time a Nigerian artiste will feature in a World Cup song.

DAILY POST recalls that Davido featured in the official song of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tagged “Hayya Hayya (Better Together).”

The song will be officially released on Thursday, May 14.

In her post, Shakira wrote: “From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! ⚽️🐺 @burnaboy.”

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America.

The competition will run from June 11 to July 19.

Controversial streamer Cater Efe has challenged Grammy-winning singer Wizkid to a boxing showdown.

Speaking during a recent livestream with Kcee and E-Money, Carter Efe said after dethroning Portable as champion of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, he now wants to fight Wizkid.

He said he would prefer to have Wizkid’s first son Boluwatife Balogun in attendance when he face his father in the ring.

“The person I want to fight with now is Wizkid and I want his son, Boluwatife to be there too. Let him come and collect the championship from me if he is man enough,” he said.

Carter Efe has been beefing Wizkid after he accused the Starboy boss of not supporting him enough when he released a tribute song for him entitled ‘Manchala’ years ago.

Wizkid has largely ignored Carter Efe’s tantrums over the years.

He is yet to react to Cater Efe’s boxing match challenge.

Popular Nigerian Tiktoker, Jarvis, has stated that she can’t have a child for someone like Peller.

Jarvis made this known during a Livestream on Wednesday evening.

In a now trending video on social media, Peller hinted that Jarvis is pregnant for him.

“My baby with Jarvis is coming soon,” he said.

In response, Jarvis shut him down, noting that “there is no baby coming soon, not for this kind of human being”.

“Don’t even pray about that one yet. You’re not organized. Until I started seeing changes,” she added.

Peller replied: “Despite gifting you Benz?”

Jarvis: “You can collect it back. The car is still parked in your house, don’t stress me.”

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced an indefinite break from music.

During a recent livestream with Davrel, the OBO crooner told his fans not to expect new music from him anytime soon, stressing that he is on sabbatical.

Davido said he doesn’t need to release new music to remain relevant in the music industry, claiming that his songs are currently dominating club playlists.

“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. Like I said if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So I am on a musical break,” he said.

Davido also commented on the fledgling celebrity boxing tournament in Nigeria, describing it as a welcome development.

“I am actually impressed by the celebrity boxing tournament. It is a welcome development, ” he stated.

Davido announces break from music

Controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid following the economic situation of the country.

The singer publicly criticised second term ambition in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday.

While questioning the president’s achievement since he assumed office in 2023, Darlington lamented the government policy failure, structural failure, economic miscalculation, and worsening insecurity.

Darlington further stated that a second term under Tinubu administration would be “hell fire” for Nigerians.

‘’You are here breaking your neck to become the next President of Nigeria but you’re not qualified to be President again. From your first term, we already know that your second term is going to be hell fire.

“When you came to the office in 2023, the first thing you did was to remove the subsidy, knowing very well that everything about Nigerian life is attached to petroleum. Giving those in the oil section thousands of reasons to inflate fuel price, knowing fully well that Nigerians are naturally greedy. Just tell me, what qualifies you for a second term?

‘’You’re not qualify again, You don’t know the job. You haven’t done anything about the rising insecurity across Nigeria.”

Dele Odule, a veteran Nigerian actor, has disclosed that he once priced his own casket.

He stated this while discussing his dark moments during an interview with Feelright TV.

Recounting the incident, Dele Odule who explained that he took the decision in his moment of despair, said he was accompanied by his colleague, Olaiya Igwe.

“I had priced my own casket before, when I was in a state of hopelessness, and complete loss of hope. Olaiya Igwe went there with me. Olaiya started crying like a baby.

“I wasn’t sick, I just believed I can no longer have breakthroughs in the industry. I was fed up. Because all my school mates are doing far better than me and my life was nothing to write home about,” he said.

Veteran Nollywood actor Roy De Nani has spoken about his painful experiences in the film industry, as well as the personal struggles he has endured over the years of his life.

Speaking on the ‘Where is the lie’ podcast, the actor alleged that at a point in his career, he was unofficially blacklisted from getting acting jobs.

According to him, “A man gave an order that nobody should give Roy De Nani a job again. For years, even when I was already recording, a producer would come in and say, ‘No, cancel it. Stop.’”

Roy De Nani also recalled the pain of losing his brother, saying that no Nollywood actors or actresses supported him during this time.

“I have a brother from the same father. When he died, not a single actor or actress showed up,” he said.

The veteran actor further revealed that he later suffered an even more devastating loss when both his son and daughter died after he could not afford the blood transfusions they urgently needed.

According to him, the children were living with sickle cell disorder and required regular transfusions to stay alive.

“I lost my son, I lost my daughter because they needed blood transfusion so they could continue living, but there was no money to buy the blood, and they died,” he said.

“Nollywood never came to assist me. Not that they don’t care, but they have not been touched. Let it be said that way,” he added.
