Popular Hausa praise singer Dauda Adamu Kahutu, widely known as Rarara, has argued that exploiting Nigeria’s security challenges for political advantage is irresponsible, insisting that any opposition politician who bases a campaign on the country’s insecurity is “insane.”

Speaking in a viral video while reacting to Afrobeats star ’s appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert, Rarara criticised the display of messages highlighting the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, saying such actions project the nation negatively on the global stage.

According to him, security-related issues should be handled with caution rather than turned into political talking points or public spectacles.

He maintained that highlighting ongoing security crises before an international audience could undermine Nigeria’s image and inadvertently serve the interests of criminal groups.

Rarara further alleged that Davido’s actions were politically motivated, claiming they were intended to support his uncle’s electoral ambitions while portraying the current administration in a bad light.

He argued that no politician or public figure should use insecurity as a campaign strategy.

“Anyone who campaigns with insecurity is insane because such a person does not fully understand the gravity of the issue,” Rarara said, stressing that national security should remain above partisan politics.

He also urged public figures and content creators to exercise restraint when discussing sensitive security matters, noting that the public may not always be aware of the complexities surrounding ongoing operations by security agencies.

Rarara concluded that while citizens have the right to express concern over national issues, they should do so in ways that do not, in his view, damage the country’s reputation or complicate efforts to resolve security challenges.

Rarara criticises Davido, condemns use of insecurity for political gain

A heated exchange has erupted on social media between two prominent Nigerian musicians, Dauda Kahutu Rarara and Davido, drawing widespread reactions from users, particularly on X.

The controversy began on Tuesday night when Rarara shared a video on his social media platforms, criticising Davido over his recent comments on insecurity in Nigeria.

The disagreement is linked to a musical performance by Davido during activities marking preparations for the FIFA World Cup, where he appeared wearing a shirt featuring the Nigerian flag and the names of schoolchildren reportedly abducted in Oyo State.

Last month, armed men claiming to be jihadists attacked a school in Oyo State and abducted several pupils and teachers, an incident that sparked national outrage and intensified criticism of the Nigerian government over security challenges.

Reacting to the situation, Davido posted on X on Wednesday morning: “Damn it, every Nigerian should not stay silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should they prevent others from voicing their concerns openly. Showing bias and prioritising personal or political interests, and putting personal desires above the community’s goals, is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot for your country, stop prioritising politics over the truth, and fear God in everything you do.”

About two hours later, Davido made another post in Hausa, apparently directed at Rarara, stating: “Da ace kana da ilimi da na tsaya nayi magana dakai. Amma komai baka sani ba, sakarai kawai.”

It means, “If you had any knowledge, I would have taken the time to argue with you. But you know absolutely nothing; you’re just a fool.”

Rarara subsequently responded in the comment section of the post, writing, “Ka shiga taitayinka,” meaning, “You should be careful.”

The exchange has since become one of the most discussed topics across Nigerian social media platforms, with supporters of both musicians engaging in intense debates over the role of celebrities in speaking out on national security issues.

Davido, Rarara trade words on social media over insecurity

The family of veteran Nollywood actor, Saheed Balogun, has finally disclosed the cause of his late daughter, Zeenat Balogun’s death.

DAILY POST recalls that Zeenat, who was also an actress and Balogun’s first born, died in October 2024.

Her sudden death raised concerns online especially with many of her fans questioning the cause of her death.

Finally revealing the cause of her death, her stepbrother, Kahlid Balogun, revealed that Zeenat died from sickle cell disease.

Kahlid made the disclosure on Wednesday while sharing a video made by actor Balogun’s children and Zeenat’s friends to celebrate her posthumous birthday.

Sharing the video on his Instagram page, her half sibling, Kahlid, wrote, “We only die when we are forgotten. Today, the Balogun family remembers and celebrates the life of our beloved firstborn, Zeenat Balogun, on her posthumous birthday.

“Though her journey was marked by the challenges of sickle cell anemia, she faced every battle with remarkable strength, courage, and grace, leaving behind memories that continue to inspire us every day.

“As we honor her birthday, we also commemorate World Sickle Cell Day through this tribute video-raising awareness, celebrating resilience, and remembering the countless warriors fighting this condition. Zeenat may no longer be with us physically, but her love, light, and legacy remain forever alive in our hearts.”

Maverick singer Olawale Olofooro, known professionally as Brymo, has said it is high time for Nigeria to start considering Igbo presidency. 

Brymo, who was backlashed during the 2023 presidential campaign for his anti-Igbo presidency remarks, said it is time for Nigerians to “let go of the past” and embrace reconciliation. 

He, however, warned that insecurity in South-east might affect Igbo presidency, claiming that several groups in Nigeria have weaponised insecurity as a tool for political bargain. 

He praised President Bola Tinubu, claiming that he stopped the South-west security outfit, Amotekun, from spiralling into a separatist group. 

Speaking in a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Brymo said, “I think it is high time for Igbo presidency. It is time for Nigeria to start considering Igbo presidency. Let’s let go of the past and reconcile our differences and unit as a nation. 

“But how will we get there if the South-east is also slowly descending into chaos? Anytime any group in Nigeria wants presidency, they will start militancy. That is what is going on. If you want presidency, start kidnapping and insecurity. 

“One of the reasons I like President Bola Tinubu is because he stopped Amotekun from taking off. He didn’t support it. Imagine if Yorubas have Amotekun active, South-eastern insecurity active, Boko Haram active, and South-south militants active, do we still have a country?”

Nigerian singer Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, has revealed that being an artiste has influenced her world-view and changed her perceptions on some of the core values of the environment and family she grew up with.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Not Just On podcast, the Taraba-born star disclosed that some of the conventional values that her family expects from her are no longer interesting to her.

Bloody Civilian said contrary to her family’s expectations, she has no plan of getting married. 

The 26-year-old said her family keeps pressuring her about marriage without understanding that it is not something she’s looking forward to.

She said, “One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are just simply not things that I am excited to do.

“For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all. But that question keeps being brought up.”

American rapper, Nicki Minaj has revealed why she stopped attending church.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Bryce Crawford podcast, Minaj disclosed that she quit church immediately she became successful.

She explained that she didn’t stop going to church because of an ideological change but because she always performs at weekends, which leaves her too exhausted to attend church on Sundays.

“Once my career started taking off, I stopped going to church. I was working on Friday nights and Saturday nights, so the last thing I could do was wake up on Sunday mornings to go to church,” she said.

Minaj explained that despite quitting church, she still has a good relationship with God.

She, however, admitted that she struggles with being consistent in her relationship with God but keeps striving to be better.

She added that her faith keeps increasing over time as she continues to grow spiritually.

Nigerian singer, Brymo, has called on his contemporaries to take a back seat in the music industry and let younger artists shine.
Speaking in a recent interview with TVC, the Ara crooner accused his colleagues Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy of trying to control the music industry and remain perpetually relevant with the “Big 3” narrative.

Brymo stated that younger artists like Rema are supposed to be the ones dominating pop conversations and not the so-called “Big 3” or veterans.

He said, “We need to stop talking about how the new artists don’t have lyrical substance and focus on how some artists want to lock down the industry for themselves with the ‘Big 3’ narrative and continue reigning forever.

“They should shift aside. Right now, Rema should be the biggest pop star in the country without any doubt. All this talk about Wizkid, 2Face, Olamide, Burna Boy. Why? In the Pop scene?? Wetin dem dey sing? You can plug the radio but nobody likes your stuff anymore. Move aside, evolve.”

Reno Omokri, the Nigeria ambassador-designate to Mexico, has reacted after singer Davido called him Bingo.

DAILY POST reports that Reno had attributed the delay in his resumption in Mexico to the ongoing World Cup.

Reacting to Reno’s claim, Davido in a now trending post on social media, knocked the ex-presidential aide. “Umu Bingo @renoomokri fowl,” the singer posted.

In response, Reno who described Davido’6 post as feedback, also tagged it most shocking.

Sharing screenshots of Davido’s insult on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Reno said the singer was angry because he faulted him for wearing a customized jacket bearing the abducted Oyo school children’s names to perform at the World Cup.

Reno wrote, “Dear Mr. David Adeleke AKA Davido, thank you for your feedback. I was rather surprised by your response to my post. Most shocking is your insult.

“You are an international celebrity whom Nigeria is proud of. Coming to insult me on my Instagram profile with such vulgar words should be beneath you. Yes, I’m aware that you were upset at my appeal to you not to use an international platform, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to give publicity to bandits and terrorists. I am also aware that Peter Obi praised you for doing that, which may have made you feel compelled to defend him.

“I did that because while your intention may be good and you think you are pressuring the government, the actual effect of what you did is to give publicity to the terrorists and help them spread fear, recruit new members, and raise funds.

“Meanwhile, IShowSpeed an American at that same event used the global stage of the World Cup to market Nigeria by wearing the jersey and speak well about Nigeria.”

Recall that Baba Ijesha was convicted by a Lagos State High Court in 2022 over the sexual assault of a minor and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment. However, the conviction was later overturned by the Court of Appeal, leading to his release from prison in November 2025.

Famous rapper Nicki Minaj has claimed that there are powerful music figures making talented artists “almost invisible” if they don’t abide by their rules. 

She claimed that most of the challenges herself and other talented artists face in the music industry were orchestrated by those figures, whom she declined to name.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Bryce Crawford podcast, Minaj said those powerful music figures treat musicians like “properties” to make money for them and sabotage those who don’t work for them.

The rapper said she has faced “constant spiritual warfare” for not playing by the rules of those powerful music figures. 

Minaj said if she had known that the music industry was deeply spiritual, she would have come better prepared. 

“It was constant spiritual warfare. I wish I kind of knew sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight,” she said.
