Troops under Sector 3 of Operation Enduring Peace have impounded 34 cattle following a reported case of farm destruction in Plateau State.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the incident occurred in Zobwo village, Bassa Local Government Area, where suspected herders were accused of destroying an irrigation farm.
Security sources said the troops were mobilised early on May 6 after receiving the report of the incident.
On arrival, the troops assessed the situation and carried out a follow-up operation in a nearby settlement known as Tafi Gana.
The suspected herders reportedly fled on sighting the troops, leaving behind their cattle.
“During the operation, the troops recovered 34 cattle, which were later moved to a secure location for further action,” Makama wrote.
Sources said calm has since been restored in the area, while security presence has been strengthened to prevent any possible escalation or reprisal attack.
Authorities also confirmed that investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged farm destruction and to identify the rightful owners of the recovered cattle.
