Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George says the club’s target is to win the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title.
DAILY POST recalls that the Pride of Rivers finished as runners-up last season.
Finidi said he is confident in the recruitment carried out by the club ahead of the new season.
“If you look at every department, it’s quite better than last season. We are very optimistic about doing better than last season,” Finidi told AIT Online.
“I always say that second place isn’t bad for a team like Rivers United. We should always aspire for the title, so this season we are going all out for the title.”
Finidi, however, expressed regret over the unavailability of a clinical striker in the NPFL.
“Searching for strikers is quite difficult because there is a scarcity of them on the continent.
“One of the top scorers in the NPFL last season is in another African country because of the number of goals he scored last season. They paid him well.
“It’s difficult because we wanted to sign him too, but where do we go from here when other countries are also looking for strikers?”
