EPL: ‘Man City would’ve won league’ — Silva blames two key factors

Manchester City ace, Bernardo Silva, has identified two key factors that affected his side’s push for the Premier League title this season.
The Portuguese admitted that the Cityzens would have won the title if Pep Guardiola’s side were not in a transitional season and if they didn’t make so many mistakes.
“I do believe our main rivals were Liverpool by far,” Silva said in an interview with The Athletic.
“I know if we were not in a transitional season and if we didn’t make so many mistakes, we would have won this league.
“I don’t say we would have won easily, but we would have won this league. So it’s quite frustrating.”
Man City currently sit two points behind Arsenal on the Premier League table with just two matches remaining to conclude the season.

Ex-Chelsea playmaker, Joe Cole, has predicted that this season’s Champions League final will be between Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Gunners have been excellent so far, winning all their fixtures and will face Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been handed a tough draw with two legs against Real Madrid on the horizon.

Although Cole feels Arsenal has an easy path, he is not completely sure about City’s chances.

“I think it is going to be an Arsenal vs Manchester City final,” Cole said on The Dressing Room podcast.

“My only bet would be Arsenal going to the final.

“With Manchester City, you still don’t know, because there’s too many good teams.”

Arsenal overpowered Tottenham 4-1 on Sunday, to re-establish a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners arrived for the North London Derby two points ahead of Manchester City.

City held on to defeat Newcastle 2-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.

Against Spurs, Mikel Arteta’s men took the lead through Eberechi Eze’s strike.

But the hosts levelled almost immediately after Declan Rice gave away the ball and Kolo Muani slammed his effort past David Raya.

In the second half, Viktor Gyokeres put Arsenal in front again with a tremendous finish, before Eze grabbed his brace.

There was enough time for Gyokeres to add a fourth for the league leaders.

Werder Bremen has spoken on the possibility of terminating the contract of Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface.

The club’s Sporting Director, Clemens Fritz did not rule out an early termination of the player’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface has struggled since making the loan move from Leverkusen to Bremen after a move to Italian giants, AC Milan failed.

Asked about Boniface’s future at the Bundesliga side after their game with Augsburg, Fritz said, according to Deichstube, “Victor is injured at the moment and we are in contact with the Leverkusen doctors. We want to let it calm down a bit for now.

“He’ll switch off for a few days, but then we’ll have to see how it develops.

“After that, however, the topic of ‘sporting future’ could well be on the table.”

Boniface has only been able to provide two assists this season and is yet to score a goal for the club.
