How my children faced death threats during EndSARS – Omotola Jalade

Veteran Nollywood actress and social activist Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has disclosed how her children faced death threats during the EndSARS.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds on Sunday, the 48-year-old actress said the threats marked a turning point in her long time of advocacy journey, forcing her to rethink how she engages in activism.

“I am used to death threats; I have received them many times,” Omotola said.

“But I have never seen anything like what happened during EndSARS. It was intense, my kids started getting death threats. That was when it became real, and when I realised this was no longer just about me.

“When people started coming to my home and workplace looking for me, I knew it was time to think beyond myself. I had to protect others, especially my children,” she said.

Omotola revealed that the experience ultimately pushed her to shift away from street protests toward more strategic, focused advocacy, citing the increasing difficulty of guaranteeing her children’s safety as they grow older.

“I can’t control where they go. I can’t protect them as much. I don’t care for my life, but I do care for them,” she said.

2027: We need leader who can die for Nigeria – Omotola

Nollywood veteran Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has said that Nigeria needs a leader who can go extra mile to sacrifice his life for the country.

Omotola made this statement on Sunday while responding to questions in an interview on Channels Television.

She was speaking about the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

She said, “It’s unfortunate that we’re still where we are now. We have everything that every other nation wants and clamoring for.

“I wish that our leaders can be bo ok d enough to take some decisions to liberate this country even if it means dying for Nigeria.

“Every nation can become very bad or terrible. Even America can be most lawless country if there were no laws or enforcement.

“What keeps any nation sane or in order is laws and enforcement, and it starts from that. So my prayer for Nigeria is that we actually get and find leaders who are selfless and ready to die for this country.

“We saw the people coming to say I love Nigeria. I was poor. I did not have one shoe. All are lies. They don’t care.”
