Money not always solution to depression – Timini Egbuson

Famous Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has shared his opinion on the relationship between money, depression and happiness.

The movie star said, contrary to the popular claim that money ends depression, money does not always guarantee happiness.

Egbuson pointed out that even rich people can still be depressed.

He stated this while addressing a viral post on X, which claimed that those battling depression would be free if they had enough money.

“You’re not depressed, you need 20 million naira,” an X user claimed in a now-viral post.

Reacting, Egbuson said, “It’s not always about money sha.”

His reaction sparked a deeper reflection on other causes of depression aside from lack and poverty, with many agreeing that money can’t cure depression stemming from the loss of a loved one, anxiety, and other natural incidents.

However, some argued that the major cause of depression is a lack of money, claiming that a lot of people would be free from it if they had money to solve their financial problems.

Nollywood producers prioritise beauty over talent – Shine Rosman claims

Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has said Nigerian filmmakers prioritise beauty over talent when in terms of casting actresses.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Baaj and Paul podcast, Rosman said the emphasis on beauty was eroding talents from Nollywood.

She said the demand for beauty in Nollywood has led to some actresses undergoing surgeries to enhance their beauties and physiques.

“Majority of Nollywood filmmakers prioritise beauty over talent. There are good directors who regard only talent but to be honest, majority prefer beauty to talent. That is why you see a lot of movie stars doing surgeries to enhance their bodies,” she claimed.

Rosman said beauty has been “so overly glorified” in the movie industry and Nigerian societ generally to the extent people are denied opportunities for not doing makeups or Brazilian Butt Lift, BBL.

She alleged that some people who are unqualified for movie roles are using their beauties to get roles.

She urged filmmakers and industry practitioners to return to prioritising talents for the sake of the future of the Nigerian movie industry.

Music money is seasonal, football funds steady – Skales

Nigerian singer Skales has shared his opinion on the ongoing debate over who makes more money between footballers and musicians, stating that soccer stars have more stable incomes than their counterparts in the music industry.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Groovymono show, the ‘Shake Body’ crooner explained that footballers don’t need to be starters for their clubs to make money, but on the contrary, it is only reigning musicians who make lots of money.

He also noted that music money is seasonal, while football money is often interrupted for the period of the contract, regardless of any circumstance.

“Football money is greater than music. The difference between music money and football money is that you don’t even have to be a big star or a starter in football to make money.

“But music money is seasonal. An artist can be up today and down tomorrow. Artists who have been able to be stay relevant consistently are backed by the divine.

“However, in football, even without being relevant you will still be making money. There are some footballers you don’t even know their names but they are earning well. Music is also crazy money but sports money is different,” he said.

BBN star Tega Dominic breaks silence on alleged affair with Frank Edoho

Former Big Brother Naija star, Tega Dominic has addressed claims by Frank Edoho’s estranged wife, Sandra, who accused her and others of affairs with the TV host, even in their home.

In a statement posted via her X handle, Tega explained that her friendship with Edoho started in mid-2025 over social media and a shared birthday wish to her mother, with their only meeting having her manager in attendance.

Her post read, “I honestly did not want to speak on this because I have spent a long time trying to stay away from unnecessary drama, but at this point, my silence is no longer helping. I have absolutely no sexual or emotional relationship with Frank Edoho.

“Frank is a great guy and a very good friend of mine. We started talking around mid-last year after he sent birthday wishes to my mum. Like many people in the industry, we already knew each other through social media and mutual familiarity. He is also my kinsman. There was never anything inappropriate between us.

“The first and only time I hung out with Frank was with my manager, Paul Ukonu, present,”she said.

“I have absolutely nothing to hide. And honestly, if I ever had anything to do with Frank romantically, I would say it with my full chest. He was separated at the time, and I am also separated. If you know me, you know I have never been the type to hide or sneak around. I say things exactly as they are.

“I have worked too hard to build myself and my brand step by step to allow false accusations stain my name like this. I owe it to my family, friends, supporters, and the reputable brands I work with to protect my reputation.

“I believe it is important for evidence to be provided because I will not let this slide. My name cannot be dragged carelessly into false narratives.

“This has honestly been very upsetting for me, but moving forward, my lawyers will handle the matter appropriately.
