A four-bedroom flat owned by a retired staff member of the Health Services Management Board in Jalingo, Mr Ayuba Ali Dangana, has been completely destroyed by fire in the ATC area of Jalingo, Taraba State.
The inferno, which reportedly started in the early hours of Wednesday, completely razed the building, with all household items destroyed beyond recognition.
Speaking to DAILY POST, the victim said the fire broke out while he was in his room checking some files. He could not immediately determine the source of the flame.
According to Dangana, the intensity of the fire made it impossible to salvage any property, as he barely escaped with only the clothes he was wearing, alongside his wife and children.
He further stated that there was no electricity supply at the time of the incident and that all electrical appliances in the house had been switched off.
Describing the incident as mysterious, he appealed to public-spirited individuals and organisations for assistance, noting that he is no longer in active service and has lost all his belongings.
