Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has leapt to the defence of Diogo Dalot following their 4-4 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday.
Dalot was at fault for the first two goals United conceded in the game.
The Portugal defender who is enduring a poor campaign was subsequently the target of abuse from fans inside the stadium and on social media.
But after the game at Old Trafford, Carrick was quick to praise Dalot’s commitment and versatility.
“I like Dalot, what he brings to the team,” Carrick said.
“Diogo gives absolutely everything. He plays in different positions, plays at left back, he cares an awful lot and he’s giving everything. I like what he brings to the team, to the group.”
