Carabao Cup final: Guardiola names best three teams after 2-0 win over Arsenal

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has picked Arsenal among the best three teams in Europe, despite beating them 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Nico O’Reilly scored two headers in the second half as City won their first piece of silverware this season.

After the game, Guardiola spoke about his satisfaction in getting one over Mikel Arteta’s team.

He said: “Alongside Bayern Munich and maybe Barcelona, to face the best team in Europe, they suffocated us for the first 15 minutes but after that we started to win a few more second balls.

“Antoine was really good in the first half, in the second half Jeremy, and we found Rodri and Bernardo in the positions we needed.

“We won an incredible victory. The Carabao Cup is not the Premier League or the Champions League but a win against that team makes it a special title.”

Carabao Cup final: Big statement – Oliseh reacts as Arsenal lose to Man City

Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, has claimed that Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final was “a big statement”.

Nico O’Reilly scored two headers in the second half as City won their first piece of silverware this season.

Oliseh, writing on his verified X page, gave a tactical breakdown of how Pep Guardiola got one over Mikel Arteta.

“Big Statement made by Manchester City to win the Carabao Cup.

“Man. City’s creative players and ball jugglers like Doku, Chekhi, Bernardo Silva made the difference.

“Arsenal’s system relies on positional discipline and high-intensity pressing. City countered in the second half with these high-frequency dribblers to create 1v1 isolations that broke Arsenal’s low block.

“Total domination by Manchester City of the second half though.

“Arsenal can take solace in the near certainty that they should win the Premier league trophy. or won’t they?”
