Hotsource News has partnered to launch the Global Wakirike Unity Dance Challenge, a unique cultural initiative aimed at bringing Wakirike people across the world together through music, dance, and community development.
The challenge features the inspiring song “Wakirike My Home” by renowned Wakirike artiste Michael Sparkolity and is powered by Hotsource News, with content to be compiled by One Top Media.
Organisers are inviting Wakirike sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to showcase their creativity by recording and submitting dance videos celebrating their heritage, culture, and love for Wakirike. Outstanding entries will receive cash prizes and exciting gifts.
What sets the challenge apart is its strong focus on giving back to the community. Winners will have the opportunity to either keep their prize money or donate it towards projects that directly benefit a Wakirike community of their choice. These projects may include providing food items to vulnerable families, drilling boreholes to improve access to clean water, repairing broken footbridges, rehabilitating damaged jetties, or supporting other community-driven development initiatives.
In addition, the organisers are calling on well-meaning Wakirike sons and daughters, corporate organisations, community associations, and friends of Wakirike to support the initiative by sponsoring or contributing to the prize pool or directly funding community development projects under the challenge. Sponsors may choose to fully undertake a project or contribute alongside others towards its completion.
Under the initiative, winners will have the opportunity to nominate any Wakirike community of their choice—including their own—for the implementation of the selected development project, ensuring that the impact of the challenge extends beyond entertainment to tangible improvements in people’s lives.
According to the organisers, the Global Wakirike Unity Dance Challenge is more than a dance competition. It is a movement designed to celebrate Wakirike identity, strengthen unity among its people across the globe, inspire cultural pride, and mobilise collective efforts towards sustainable community development.
Participants are encouraged to bring creativity, energy, and originality to their performances while showcasing the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of the Wakirike people.
With entries expected from across Nigeria and the diaspora, the Global Wakirike Unity Dance Challenge promises to become a global celebration of culture, unity, and purposeful community impact.
