President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the immediate termination of all contracts between the government and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) following the conclusion of investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) into alleged corruption-related offences.
The directive, issued through the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, and addressed to the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, instructs that all existing agreements with SML be “swiftly brought to an end.”
According to the Presidency, the decision reflects the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
The OSP began investigating SML several months ago after concerns were raised about the company’s procurement and compliance processes in relation to its contracts with the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority.
President Mahama’s directive further mandates the Finance Ministry to ensure that the termination process is carried out in accordance with all legal and financial procedures.
