Ebonyi: APGA to begin state-wide membership drive ahead 2027 elections

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Ebonyi State chapter, says it has concluded arrangements to launch a state-wide membership drive in order to expand its base and increase visibility as a major opposition party, ahead of 2027 general elections.

The Ebonyi APGA chapter also resolved to remain united and strong even as it endorsed the National Executive Committee, NEC, led by Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa and the state executives led by Chukwudi Nwankwo.

In a communique issued at the end of its enlarged meeting in Abakaliki on Thursday, signed by 26 leaders and stakeholders of the party in the state, the Ebonyi APGA chapter reaffirmed its commitment to the party’s ideals and resolved to work together towards a stronger, more united party.

The communique assured supporters that the leadership crisis in the party, which is before the Supreme Court, will soon be resolved.

The communique said: “Going by the reports from the thirteen (13) indefatigable Local Government Chairmen and Executives, we salute your unwavering dedication and unrelenting efforts in advancing our party’s interests across various local governments, despite the recent mass defections to the ruling party.

“Your resilience and commitment are truly inspiring. In the face of adversity, you have demonstrated exceptional leadership, mobilizing support and ensuring our party remains strong and united. Your tireless work has not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for your contributions.”

Continuing, it noted that the party decided to establish a Reconciliation Committee to address internal conflicts and foster harmony, create a strategic planning committee to develop a roadmap for the party’s growth, organize a regular stakeholders’ meetings to ensure inclusive decision-making.

“We appreciate the tireless efforts of our leaders, Rt Hon Joseph Nwobashi (IKEMBA), Member Federal House of Representatives, Ezza North/Ishielu Constituency, Hon Kelvin Kenechukwu Okeh (Kenoka,) Member Representing Ezza North East Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly and supporters who have contributed to APGA’s growth in Ebonyi State.

“”We acknowledge the challenges you’ve faced, from maintaining party cohesion to addressing the needs of your constituents. Your ability to navigate these complexities while staying true to our party’s vision is commendable.

“Thank you for your selfless service, unwavering loyalty, and unshakeable commitment. You are the backbone of our Party, and we look forward to continuing our collective progress. Keep leading with passion and integrity!

“We urge all members to remain committed, focused, and dedicated to the party’s progress. Together, we will achieve greatness,” the communique added.
