Unity Cup: Jamaica coach confident of victory against Super Eagles

Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid is confident his team can beat the Super Eagles in the final of the Unity Cup, DAILY POST reports.

The Reggae Boys booked their spot in the final of the invitational tournament following a comfortable 2-0 victory over India on Wednesday night.

Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon were on target for Jamaica in the game.

The North Americans have lost in the final of the last two editions of the Unity Cup to the Super Eagles.

They came close to beating Éric Chelle’s side last year rallying from 2-0 down before succumbing 5-4 on penalities.

Speid is upbeat they can overcome the three-time African champions this time around.

“Well, they (Super Eagles) are very, very good but every team is beatable, and we have to be aware of what they bring. We have some things to bring ourselves. Jamaica is still in a rebuilding stage, lots of young players.

“As with the game these days, nobody is a winner before the game is played. That’s where we are right now,” Speid said after his team’s victory over India.

The final will hold at the Valley on Saturday night.

World Cup 2026: Come play number 10 for Brazil – Joao Pedro tells England star

Chelsea star, Joao Pedro, has revealed he told teammate Cole Palmer to come and play the number 10 position for Brazil ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Pedro, who was dropped from the Brazilian squad for the World Cup, believes Palmer would start as a number 10 for the Seleção.

According to him, the current Brazil squad under head coach Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t have a number 10.

Coincidentally, just like Pedro, Palmer also failed to make the England squad for the World Cup.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Pedro said of Palmer, “He’s very intelligent. He’s magic.

“I said to him before, ‘I didn’t think you were that good.’ And he just looked at me! But now, because I play with him, yeah, he’s different.

“I said to him, ‘Why don’t you come to Brazil? Take the number 10 there, mate. No problem.’

“Because in Brazil, we don’t have this guy. If you watch us, we play 4-2-4. We don’t have a number 10.”
