The team’s captain, Wilfred Ndidi is suspended for the game due to card accumulation.

Ndidi was cautioned in Nigeria’s Round of 16 encounter against the Mambas of Mozambique.

The Besiktas star was also booked in the quarter-final tie against Tunisia.

DAIlLY POST recalls that Osimhen captained the Super Eagles in their last group game against Uganda.

Osimhen was named Super Eagles vice-captain on the eve of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Angola Football Federation are looking to prize away Malian coach, Eric Chelle from Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.

A number of African coaches have reportedly expressed interest in Chelle after the great work he has achieved with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles have impressed in Morocco with their sublime attacking style of play.

According to SCORENigeria, the Angolan Federation are now offering to double Chelle’s salary.

Chelle is on $50,000 a month, and has a year left on his contract with the NFF.

They want to pay him $100,000 to make him their new head coach.

The Palancas Negras endured a poor outing at AFCON 2025 failing to progress beyond the group stage.

Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh has insisted that Nigeria is not striker, Victor Osimhen.

Oliseh spoke ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final tie with Morocco on Wednesday.

According to him, the Nigerian team is made up of a solid eleven players, not Osimhen alone.

“Nigeria is not Osimhen,” Oliseh said on the Global Football Insights podcast.

“Nigeria is these eleven solid players. For the past 20 years, I have never seen a Nigerian Super Eagles team play the way this team has played against Uganda, Mozambique and Algeria.”

This is coming less than a few days after Osimhen’s recent on-field heated argument with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s AFCON Round of 16 4-0 win against Mozambique.

Osimhen and Lookman have since settled and moved on as they featured together in Nigeria’s 2-0 win against Algeria in the quarter-final at the weekend.

AFCON: ‘Nigeria is not Osimhen’ – Ex-Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh

Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh has named Calvin Bassey as the Nigerian player who has impressed him the most in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Morocco.

Speaking on the Global Football Insights podcast, Oliseh described the Fulham star as a rock, insisting that he has really improved his game.

“The player nobody is talking about that is impressing me most is Calvin Bassey,” Oliseh said.

“My God, this boy has totally grown, confidence. He’s a rock. If you throw anything at him, he will handle it well.

“He is well complemented with Ajayi at the back.”

Bassey will hope to lead the Super Eagles to victory when they face Morocco in the AFCON semi-final on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old has been impressive for Eric Chelle’s side so far in the competition, forming a formidable partnership with Semi Ajayi in the heart of the Nigerian defence.

AFCON: ‘My God’ – Oliseh names Nigeria player who impressed him most

Former Arsenal defender, Sol Campbell, has said that Liam Rosenior will not stay long at Chelsea.

DAILY POST reported that after Enzo Maresca left, Chelsea picked Liam Rosenior to be their new head coach.

The Englishman was in charge of Strasbourg, a team that is also part of the BlueCo group, owned by Chelsea owners.

Sharing his thoughts on the appointment, Sol Campbell said, “It’s good to have Liam Rosenior as the new Chelsea manager.

“That’s because Todd Boehly owns Strasbourg. They said he’s done a great job and sent him to Chelsea.

“So it all worked out for him. It’s nice to have a young manager in the league.

I don’t think they’re going to keep him around long, he’s probably just there for a short time.

“But it’s a great experience. He can play some games and get a feel for what the top league is like. That will be great for him. I hope he keeps doing well in the future.”

Rosenior started his first match as the Blues’ head coach, leading the team to a 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup Third Round on Sunday.

They will play against Arsenal, their rivals, in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

EPL: ‘He won’t stay long at Chelsea’ – Campbell on Rosenior

At least two people were shot and more than 10 women abducted when bandits attacked Tudun Mallam village in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Sunday night.

The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Bakatsine.

According to Bakatsine, the attackers stormed the community late at night.

“Last night, bandits raided Tudun Mallam village in Wurno LGA of Sokoto State, shooting two people who are now hospitalised in Udutu PHC, abducting more than 10 women and looting farm equipment, according to residents.

“Communities say attacks and kidnappings are continuing despite the claims of improved security. Where exactly is the improved security being promised?” Bakatsine wrote.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, has said it is difficult to compare him with Brazil football legend, Ronaldinho.

He also admitted that Ronaldinho is the most skilful player he ever played alongside.

Okocha revealed this during an interview with Clutch 9.

The former midfielder was reacting to comments made by Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, who once played with both men at Paris Saint-Germain, admitting he could not decide who was more skilful between the duo.

Okocha said: “I can’t say that anybody is better than me since I’ve accepted the title of chief flair officer. He [Ronaldinho] was a genius when it comes to football. Straight away we saw his talent.

“He brought something different, and in a way we clicked, because our foundation was the same. We learnt how to play on the street; we were playing because we loved the game, and with smiles on our faces.

“It’s difficult to compare both of us because we had a good career, even though he took it higher.”

The Super Eagles will train behind closed doors on Monday (today) as they intensify preparations for the highly anticipated semi-final encounter against Morocco, DAILY POST reports.

The session will hold at the Complexe Mohammed VI in Rabat.

The training session will commence at 6:00 pm local time.

The players and their officials are expected to arrive Rabat from Fès Monday afternoon.

They will be lodged at Rihab Hotel.

The media will however have assess to the first 15 minutes of the training session on Tuesday.

Morocco and Nigeria will clash at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat, on Wednesday.

AFCON 2025: Super Eagles train behind closed doors in Rabat

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has begun an investigation into the ugly confrontations that happened after Nigeria’s 2–0 win over Algeria during a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final in Marrakech.

Africa Soccer reports that CAF is reviewing reports from referees, security personnel, and media representatives.

Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams scored in the second half to secure the Super Eagles’ passage into the semis.

However, the Algerians were furious at full time, targeting the match officials for what they perceived as unfair decisions.

The players tried to assault referee Issa Sy and his assistants and the stadium security had to intervene.

There was also disturbance from the Algerian fans in the stands, and they attempted to breach barriers and reportedly vandalized parts of the stadium.

AFCON 2025: CAF opens investigation into Nigeria vs Algeria clash

Nigeria forward, Terem Moffi has requested the termination of his contract with French club, OGC Nice, DAILY POST reports.

Moffi, and Ivory Coast international Jeremie Boga were assaulted by Nice fans last November following their 3-1 defeat to Lorient.

The 26-year-old has been on sick leave since the incident.

According to the authoritative French news outlet, L’Equipe, the striker’s lawyers have validated the request, referencing articles 51 and 265 of the professional football charter.

The case is expected to be reviewed on Thursday.

Moffi has a contract with Nice until June 2027.
