Three Super Eagles stars combined on Saturday to help Trabzonspor beat Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.

Paul Onuachu scored his first-ever goal against Galatasaray as Trabzonspor defeated the league leaders 2-1.

Onuachu opened the scoring early in the match, providing Trabzonspor with a robust start against their opponents.

The former Southampton forward has now increased his tally to 22 league goals for the season.

Galatasaray responded in the second half and succeeded in equalizing. However Trabzonspor regained the lead through another Nigerian international.

Chibuike Nwaiwu scored to restore the advantage, marking his third league goal of the season in the process.

The decisive moment was set up by Anthony Nwakaeme, who provided the assist for Nwaiwu’s goal.

The combined efforts of the three Nigerian players were crucial as Trabzonspor managed to secure all three points.

Onuachu’s early goal, Nwaiwu’s winning strike, and Nwakaeme’s assist ensured the hosts triumphed in a closely fought contest.

Wikki Tourists were held to a 2-2 draw by Enyimba in their matchday 33 encounter in Lafia on Saturday.

Bala Imamu gave the hosts the lead in the 14th minute.

Wikki Tourists were reduced to 10-men when goalkeeper Utum Godswill was sent off late in the first half.

Enyimba levelled through Samuel Okechukwu in the 54th minute.

The home team regained the lead for the second time in the game through Jonathan Mairiga 20 minutes from time.

Enyimba however returned to Aba with a share of the spoils after Onyebuchi Nwaorisa restored parity deep into stoppage time.

The Aba giants moved up to 14th position, while Wikki Tourists climbed to 17th.

Real Madrid manager, Alvaro Arbeloa, has said he is not concerned about the LaLiga fixture between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on Saturday night.

Arbeloa was speaking after Los Blancos suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Mallorca.

The result leaves Madrid four points behind Barca, who travel to the Wanda Metroplitano.

According to him, the players must turn their focus to Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich.

When asked whether he needed a favour from Atlético, he replied: “Well… that’s not something that concerns me.

“What matters to me is my team and preparing for Tuesday’s match.

“As for things I can’t do anything about, I don’t waste too much time on them.”

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has said Mohamed Salah’s biggest mistake was staying at the Premier League club after Jurgen Klopp left.

Salah arrived at Anfield a year after Klopp was appointed as the Reds boss.

During their time together, the two men won the league and Champions League among other titles.

Klopp eventually stepped down in 2024 and was replaced by Arne Slot, who won the league in his first year.

However, Slot and Salah have fallen out this season, resulting in the Egyptian announcing his exit.

Carragher said: “Salah’s biggest mistake might have been staying after Klopp left.

“After all he’s done for Liverpool, this is a rough way to say goodbye.

“We’ve seen it with Ronaldo too—problems with the manager can destroy your confidence. It’s sad to watch.”

Galatasaray vice-president, Ibrahim Hatipoglu, has praised the transformative impact of striker Victor Osimhen, crediting the Nigerian international for a significant surge in the club’s international popularity and brand value.

According to Hatipoglu, Galatasaray is now a household name in Africa and the Middle East as a result of the Osimhen effect.

Galatasaray signed Osimhen on a permanent transfer from Napoli in a historic €75 million deal last summer.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig tie with Trabzonspor on Saturday evening at Papara Park, Hatipoglu said, “Victor Osimhen has boosted our popularity tremendously.

Manchester City have become the first team to progress into the semi-finals of this season’s FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s men thrashed Liverpool 4-0 in the first quarter-final fixture played on Saturday.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring from the spot after Nico O’Reilly was fouled in the area, before heading home the second before half time.

Antoine Semenyo struck early in the second half, finishing off a fine team move, before Haaland completed his hat-trick.

The other quarter-final ties to be played today will see Arsenal travel to Southampton and Chelsea host Port Vale.

Frank Onyeka has said Coventry City are firmly focused on Monday’s clash with Hull City, DAILY POST reports.

Frank Lampard’s side boosted their chances of securing promotion to the Premier League with a hard-earned 3-2 victory over Derby County at the CBS Arena on Friday.

Onyeka scored Coventry City’s first goal of the game in the first half.

The result sees Coventry move 11 points clear of second-placed Millwall with six games remaining.

The Sky Blue Stars will be away to Hull City on Easter Monday.

The Nigeria said it was important for Coventry to win the game.

“We need to rest, we need to travel on Sunday, and we need to play against Hull. We need to be ready, we need to stay focused, and we need to win,” Onyeka said.

Plateau United have announced they will host Ikorodu City in their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday 33 encounter at the Lafia City Stadium, DAILY POST reports.

The game according to the club was moved to Lafia due to the recent security unrest in Jos.

Gbenga Ogunbote’s side will host the Oga Boys next week Monday. It will kick-off at 4pm.

The Tin City club are expected to return to the New Jos Stadium for their next league game.

Plateau United currently occupy ninth position on the NPFL table with 43 points from 32 games.

Ikorodu City, who are challenging for a maiden NPFL title sit in third position with 52 points from same number of matches.
