Bundesliga: Hamburg gets deadline to trigger Otele’s purchase option

Hamburg has until June 15 to decide on a permanent deal for Nigerian winger, Philip Otele, DAILY POST reports.

Otele joined the Bundesliga club on loan from Swiss club FC Basel in January.

Die Rothosen paid a loan fee of €1 million for the player.

The North German club will have to pay €4.5 million to sign the versatile winger permanently.

Otele was sent off in Hamburg’s derby defeat to Werder Bremen last weekend, and has been suspended for two games.

He has scored once, and registered one assist in nine appearances for Hamburg.

LaLiga: Barcelona confirm Lamine Yamal out of the season

Barcelona have confirmed that Lamine Yamal will miss the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury.

Yamal suffered the issue in the action of scoring a penalty during his side’s 1-0 win over Celta Vigo.

In a statement on Thursday, Barca issued an update on the 18-year-old’s World Cup prospects.

It read: “The tests carried out have confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has a hamstring injury in his left leg (biceps femoris muscle).

“The player will follow a conservative treatment plan. Lamine Yamal will miss the remainder of the season, and he is expected to be available for the World Cup.”

Hansi Flick’s side, who are looking to successfully defend their domestic crown, have six La Liga fixtures left to take in before the 2025-26 campaign comes to a close. Yamal will sit out all of those, including a home date with Real Madrid at Camp Nou on May 10.

NWFL: Three teams battle for playoff spots in Group B

Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels and Remo Stars Ladies are battling for the remaining two playoff spots in Group B of the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, with two games left in the regular season.

DAILY POST reports that FC Robo Queens is the only team in the group to have secured qualification for the Super Six playoff tournament.

Nasarawa Amazons occupy second position on the table with 29 points from 16 matches. Abia Angels are third with 27 points, while Remo Stars Ladies have 24 points.

The Lafia-based club will face Sunshine Queens and Robo Queens in their final two league fixtures.

A win in their next match would secure the Amazons a place in the playoffs.

Abia Angels need victories in their last two matches against Dannaz Ladies and Ahudiyannem Queens to finish among the top three teams in the group.

Remo Stars Ladies will play Delta Queens and Dannaz Ladies in their remaining fixtures.

The top three teams from Group B advance to the NWFL Super Six playoff tournament.

Reacting, Guardiola said he was sorry that Rosenior was sacked.

Chelsea have announced that Calum McFarlane will be the interim head coach for the first team until the end of the season.

This comes after the club decided to dismiss Liam Rosenior as head coach on Wednesday.

An official statement confirmed that McFarlane will take charge of the next game against Leeds in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend and continue for the rest of the season.
