The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has announced the appointment of Akeem Ishola Busari as the new Flamingos head coach.

Busari replaces Bankole Olowookere who has been with the Flamingos for many years.

Olowookere led the Flamingos to third position at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals in India.

Busari is currently the head coach of Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, side Pacesetters Queens of Ibadan.

The Flamingos will face either Niger or Guinea in the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second qualifying round fixture next month.

Morocco will host the competition later this year.

Former Super Eagles midfielder Victor Moses will be part of Chelsea’s visit to Lagos, Nigeria in May.

It’s the first time the Premier League giants will be visiting Africa’s most populous nation.

The fan engagement programme will see Moses meet the club’s passionate fans across the event in the vibrant Nigerian city.

The former winger was a popular figure during his time with Chelsea.

Moses won the Premier League title with Chelsea during 2016/17 season.

He retired from international football in 2018.

Nigeria National League (NNL) Chairman, George Aluo, has expressed hope that the remaining matches in the conferences will produce worthy champions.

Doma United remain the only team that has secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Conferences A, B, and D will be concluded in the next two weeks.

“It’s a thing of joy that we witnessed the successful conclusion of Conference C with interesting results,” Aluo told the NNL media.

“I’m looking forward to the successful conclusion of other conferences in the next two weeks.”

DAILY POST reports that Mighty Jets and City FC have been relegated to the Nationwide League.

Gallas also predicted that the Gunners will not win the UEFA Champions League this season as he also rate their chances of winning the FA Cup.

Arsenal are currently participating in the three competitions and will return to action against Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday evening.

Manchester City will most likely appoint Enzo Maresca as Pep Guardiola’s replacement.

Guardiola’s future at the Etihad is the subject of intense speculation.

There are rumours that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich will step aside from the role this summer.

City are yet to get a definitive answer from Guardiola about his plans, but they have pinpointed Maresca as his successor.

This was revealed by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, via his X account on Thursday.

Romano wrote: “Manchester City will let Pep Guardiola decide what he wants to do with his future.

“As reported since January, Enzo Maresca is the favorite candidate if/when Pep decides to leave.

“Despite reports on Kompany, #MCFC really appreciate Maresca.”

Gabriele Gravina has resigned as president of the Italian Football Federation after the national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

His resignation follows an emergency meeting after a penalty shootout loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European World Cup qualifier played on Tuesday.

During a key meeting today, Gravina informed the top representatives of Lega Serie A, Serie B, Lega Pro, and the players’ and coaches’ associations of his resignation.

Gravina is stepping down from the post he took on in February 2025.

Meanwhile, the election for Gravina’s successor will be held on June 22.

Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus, has named fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli as the Gunners’ best player at the moment.

Jesus, a former Manchester City star, said Martinelli has good player since his teenage days.

When asked who the current best player on the Arsenal team is, Jesus told Romario TV, “There are a few, but I think I will go with Martinelli.

“I first saw him, funny enough, during the 2019 Copa America preparation.

“I think it was 2019, the national team always calls up young players from the youth teams to come and train with us, right? There was a good young left winger. I said, ‘Wow, what a good kid.’”

Martinelli joined Arsenal from Ituano FC in 2019.

Wikki Tourist technical adviser, Evans Ogenyi has called for fairness in officiating in the remaining fixtures in the Nigeria Premier Football League,NPFL this season.

The Bauchi Elephants are currently battling to avoid relegation.

Wikki Tourist sit in 19th position on the NPFL table with 36 points after defeat against Niger Tornadoes in Minna last Sunday.

Ogenyi believed that team must work hard to earn results on the pitch.

“At this stage of the season, we can only appeal for fair officiating,” Ogenyi told Wikki Tourists media.

“The teams are working hard, and the outcome of matches should reflect that fairness on the pitch.”

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has predicted the FA Cup quarter-final fixtures taking place this weekend.

Manchester City will host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In the evening, Chelsea will tackle Port Vale at Stamford Bridge.

On Saturday night, Southampton will welcome Arsenal at home, while West Ham United will clash with Leeds United on Sunday.

Stating his prediction, Merson told Sportskeeda that Manchester City will beat Liverpool 2-1.

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, has revealed that Mohamed Salah will join a Saudi Pro League, SPL, club in the summer.

Speaking on The Overlap’s Stick to Football segment, Gerrard pushed back on Gary Neville’s suggestion that Salah could end up at Chelsea or Arsenal.

“I don’t think he would do that,” Gerrard stated.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s another big club somewhere else, but I don’t think he will go to a rival in England.

“I think it will be Saudi. Having lived there and seen how highly he’s regarded, that’s where I’d put my money.”

Salah has since confirmed he will leave Liverpool when the season concludes.
