Bayelsa United team manager, Tarila Okoronwanta is optimistic on the team’s chances of making a positive impact in the 2026 President Federation Cup.

The Prosperity Boys will face Wikki Tourists in the Round of 32 of the competition.

The encounter will take place at the Lafia City Stadium in Lafia next week.

Okoronwanta believed that his team’s season is not yet over despite their relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

“Well, let’s wait and see. It is not completely over for us yet. We are still in the Federation Cup Round of 32 and will face Wikki Tourists in Lafia. Anything can still happen,” Okoronwanta told Completesports.

“Who knows, the President Federation Cup could provide a window of relief for us as a team.”

The winner of the President Federation Cup will qualify to play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Paul Onuachu has been shortlisted for the Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season, DAILY POST reports.

Onuachu was nominated for his  superb scissor-kick finish in Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük last September.

It was first voted the Süper Lig’s Goal of the Month for September.

Fenerbahçe midfielder  Marco Asensio and Beşiktaş’ Orkun Kökçü are the other players nominated for the award.

The winner of the award  will be determined by fan votes.

Onuachu was joint-top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig in the 2025/26 season with 22 goals.

Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid is expecting a difficult duel against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.

The Reggae Boyz will do battle with the three-time African champions in the final of the Unity Cup at the Valley, London on Saturday night.

It will be a repeat of last year’s final which the Super Eagles won 5-4 on penalities.

Jamaica defeated India 2-0 in the semi-final to reach their second consecutive final.

Speid said he is  looking forward to an exciting game against Nigeria.

“It’s always exciting to play against Nigeria; they play exciting football. They’re one of the powerhouses in Africa so it’s always good. We always look forward to playing them,Speid said ahead of the game.

The game will kick-off at 7.30pm Nigeria time.

Arsenal icon Lee Dixon has urged Mikel Arteta to include Myles Lewis-Skelly in his starting lineup for the forthcoming UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Although Lewis-Skelly had only made 2 starts for Arsenal in the Premier League by May 2, he was introduced into central midfield during their league match against Fulham.

He played a crucial role in the game, which ended with a 3-0 victory for the Gunners.

Since that match, Lewis-Skelly has consistently featured alongside Declan Rice in the Arsenal midfield.

The young player also delivered an impressive performance in their Champions League semi-final victory over Atletico Madrid.

Mikel Arteta faces the decision of selecting a player to partner Declan Rice in the UCL final, and Gunners legend Lee Dixon believes that Lewis-Skelly deserves that chance.

He shared his thoughts with The Athletic via Metro, “I can’t say I was surprised because I think I knew he could do it,” he said when discussing the young Englishman’s midfield performance.

“I believe it was an opportunity that arose from Mikel needing something, and he certainly got it in abundance. I thought Myles was outstanding.

“His control and awareness of the players around him made him my man of the match, possibly in both games (UCL semi-final).

“It’s a significant decision (who to start in the Champions League final). However, I would likely choose Myles. He has already demonstrated enough composure not to be intimidated by that stage.”

Dixon further likened the Arsenal midfielder to Paul Gascoigne, stating:

“I’ve observed Myles extensively; he possesses a very Gazza-like quality in how he utilizes his weight and strength,” Dixon continued.

“He almost allows opponents to catch up with him. He’ll maneuver past them and then decelerate slightly. Gazza used to do that so that when they came in and made contact again, he would bounce them off him.

“Myles will earn free kicks by employing that technique, and he will also position himself higher up the pitch, making it a remarkable skill to possess.”

Each Paris Saint-Germain player will receive €1m if they win the Champions League, just like last year.

The Ligue 1 champions play Arsenal in Saturday’s final in Budapest.

And Luis Enrique’s men have been given incentive to retain the trophy they won last year.

Captain Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha are believed to be the players who negotiated these bonuses with the club’s management.

Speaking ahead of the game, Enrique said: “We’ve shown in these eight matches what team we are, we’ve dominated the majority of these matches.

“Today we’re reaching the final again, and it’s historic for us. We want to continue making history in Europe, that’s our goal, It’s clear.”

Champions League final: PSG players promised €1m each to beat Arsenal

Rangers General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, has urged his players to put behind their league triumph and concentrate on the President Federation Cup.

The Flying Antelopes will do battle with Rivers United in the Round of 32 of the competition.

The encounter is billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Ezeaku warned his team to expect a tough match against the Port Harcourt-based side.

“Congratulations, boys, on winning the NPFL title. But you should put that behind you right now and focus on the next game, which is the Federation Cup Round of 32 match against Rivers United,” Ezeaku was quoted by Completesports.

“You know it’s going to be a tough game because they will throw everything into the match. We denied them the league title, so they will come fully prepared to win this one.”

Ezeaku said that the celebrations should not distract the team as they chase a domestic double.

“You must not allow your celebrations to be cut short. Is it a bad thing for us to win the double? So, all attention and focus should be geared towards the game.” he said.

President Federation Cup: Rangers chief tasks players to go for double

Paris Saint-Germain coach, Luis Enrique, has released a strong squad to face Arsenal in the Champions League final on Saturday evening in Budapest.

Champions League final: PSG coach Luis Enrique releases strong squad to face Arsenal

Only three English clubs have won the domestic top-flight league title and the European Cup or Champions League in the same season.

They are Liverpool (in both 1976-77 and 1983-84), Manchester United (in 1998-99 and 2007-08) and Manchester City (in 2022-23).

On Saturday evening, newly crowned Premier League champions Arsenal will attempt to join that exclusive list when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

The Gunners will clash with the French Ligue 1 giants in the Champions League final in Budapest this weekend.

Both teams head to the game after beating the likes of Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, respectively, in the

semi-final encounter.

Meanwhile, PSG is attempting to become the first club other than Real Madrid to defend the trophy in the Champions League era (1992-93 onwards).

Recall that Real Madrid memorably won the Champions League three times in succession from 2015-16 to 2017-18.

Only three English clubs have won EPL, UCL in same season

Terem Moffi is still uncertain where he will be playing his football next season, DAILY POST reports.

The Nigerian international spent the second half of last season on loan with Portuguese champions FC Porto from OGC Nice.

Porto had decided not to activate the €8m purchase option in his contract.

Moffi is also not willing to return to Nice after he was assaulted by the club’s supporters last December.

The 26-year-old, who is currently on international duty with Nigeria, is not willing to discuss his future at the moment.

“Honestly, I have no clue what’s going to happen. The future, I don’t like to think about it, only the present. What happens today is what I’m focused on,” Moffi told Nigeria Football Weekly.

Transfer: Moffi uncertain over future after Porto’s exit 

Former Arsenal star, Paul Merson, has mentioned three players that should lead the Gunners’ attack when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Both teams will clash in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday evening.

However, in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson wants the likes of Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard to lead Arsenal’s attack against Luis Enrique’s side.

“I expect Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard to lead the Arsenal attack in this game,” Merson said.

“I like Trossard. He plays in all the big games because he’s such a reliable and good footballer. But I don’t expect Arsenal to open PSG up with this trio. Their real chance is through set-pieces,” he said.

PSG and Arsenal head to the game after eliminating Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, respectively, in the semi-final earlier this month.
