The Super Eagles were held to a 2-2 draw by Jordan in a friendly in Antalya, Turkey, on Tuesday night.

Musa Al-Taamari gave Jordan the lead in the 17th minute.

Raphael Onyedika had a goal ruled out for offside for Nigeria seven minutes later.

The Super Eagles, however, equalised through Moses Simon in the 26th minute.

Simon reacted quickest inside the box, with a left-footed finish after Ademola Lookman’s effort was blocked.

Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez gave Nigeria the lead for the first time in the game four minutes before the break.

Fernandez controlled Bright Osayi-Samuel’s cross and fired a left-footed finish into the net.

The Super Eagles dominated the game early in the second half but failed to double their advantage.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was replaced by Adebayo Adeleye in the 57th minute due to injury.

Mohammad Al-Daoud restored parity for Jordan 13 minutes from time.

Substitute Alex Iwobi was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct late in the game.

Niger Tornadoes technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has revealed that his team struggled in the win over Wikki Tourists.

The Minna-based side recorded a 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists at the Bako Kontagora Stadium on Sunday.

Abdulrasheed Shehu Dabai converted from the penalty spot before Terdoo Shimagande sealed the win with a late header for Niger Tornadoes.

Mangut commended his players for showing enough desire to secure the maximum points in the game.

“We thank God for the win. It was a great effort and performance from the players—they showed real desire,” Mangut told the club’s media.

“We struggled to find our rhythm in the first half, which led to the changes we made, and thankfully they worked.”

Mangut also reiterated his team’s desire to maintain their NPFL status.

“Our target remains to secure our NPFL status and finish comfortably,” he added.

Niger Tornadoes currently occupy 11th position on the NPFL table.

However, Eric Chelle’s men can expect a tough game against Jordan, who are ranked 64th by FIFA and will play at the 2026 World Cup.

FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, has said Iran will play at the 2026 World Cup.

Infantino also insisted they will play their group matches in the United States as scheduled, despite the Middle East war.

“Iran will be at the World Cup,” he said, speaking at half-time of Iran’s friendly against Costa Rica in Turkey.

“That’s why we’re here. We’re delighted because they’re a very, very strong team, I’m very happy.

“I’ve seen the team, I’ve spoken to the players and the coach, so everything is fine.”

Infantino made it clear that Iran’s “matches will be played where they are supposed to be, according to the draw”.

The World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, kicks off June 11.

Chelsea left-back, Marc Cucurella, has given a reason why his team was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking to The Athletic, the Spain international insisted that the Blues lacked experience.

According to him, Liam Rosenior’s side made a mistake by attacking the Parisians without a clear structure.

“You can always make a mistake, but we should have handled it better. There was a return game to play, and if you keep a cool head, you go back to London with a 3-2 defeat (the score with five minutes left of normal time in the first leg), and anything can happen.

“We made a mistake, tried to attack without a clear structure and then PSG took the chance and proved they have that cutting edge.

Nigeria National League, NNL, outfit Rovers FC were involved in a road accident near Asaba on Tuesday, DAILY POST reports.

The Calabar club were travelling to Lagos for a rescheduled NNL fixture against Sporting Lagos.

The encounter is scheduled for the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Wednesday.

According to the club, several players, officials and staff were injured in the accident.

They are already receiving treatment at a hospital.

The management said the welfare of the players remains their top priority during this difficult time.

NNL: Rovers players, officials injured in road crash

Napoli striker, Romelu Lukaku, is facing disciplinary action for skipping training as the Serie A giants released a statement.

Antonio Conte’s side is considering taking legal action against Lukaku after the Belgian failed to report for training today.

As a result, there have now been tensions between both parties after the former Chelsea star spent the international break in Belgium while recovering from injury.

“SSC Napoli can confirm that Romelu Lukaku did not respond to today’s call to return to training,” Napoli’s statement read on Tuesday.

“The club reserves the right to consider taking the appropriate disciplinary action.

“As well as to determine whether the player will continue to train with the team for an indefinite period.”

Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella, has suggested that the club shouldn’t have parted ways with manager Enzo Maresca.

Recall that Chelsea sacked Maresca on New Year’s Day following a run of poor results.

The Premier League west London club later appointed Liam Rosenior as Maresca’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

However, Cucurella feels the Blues should have waited until the end of the season before parting ways with Maresca.

“The moment Enzo Maresca left, it had a big impact on us,” the Spain international told The Athletic FC as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“If you asked me, I would not have made this decision. To make a change like that, the best thing is to wait until the end of the season.”

The Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kebbi State, Abubakar Bawa, has officially resigned from the party, with immediate effect.

Bawa submitted his resignation in a letter dated March 30 to the Ward Chairman of Kalgo Ward in Kalgo Local Government Area.

In the letter, he expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the support he received during his tenure.

“I thank the party for the platform given to me to contribute my quota and wish the PDP continued success and progress,” he stated.

The resignation has attracted political attention within the Kebbi PDP, particularly amid subtle realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bawa’s departure comes shortly after he reaffirmed the state chapter’s participation in the Wike-backed factional convention in Abuja, raising questions among political observers about possible internal rifts and shifting dynamics within the party.
