Sunshine Queens have sacked their head coach, Kayode Olujohungbe, DAILY POST reports.

The management of the club announced Olujohungbe’s disengagement in a statement on Friday.

Sunshine Queens stated that the decision was taken after a thorough review of the team’s performance, and they believe it is necessary to make changes to get the team back on track.

The Akure-based side expressed gratitude to the coach for his efforts and contributions to the team and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Olujohungbe guided Sunshine Queens to two wins, six draws and five defeats in 13 matches.

Sunshine Queens occupy ninth position on the NWFL Group B table with 12 points.

Kano Pillars have expressed determination to renew their push for positive results in the remaining fixtures in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season.

The Sai Masu Gida’s three-game unbeaten run was halted after a 4–1 defeat to Bayelsa United in a Matchday 32 fixture in Yenagoa last weekend.

Kano Pillars said they are set to put the disappointing result behind them ahead of the Matchday 33 clash this weekend.

They will be up against Bendel Insurance in their next league game this weekend in Kano.

“The team returned to training with renewed determination, putting the disappointment of the weekend’s result behind us as we intensify preparations for the upcoming fixtures,” Kano Pillars wrote on social media.

“Our focus remains clear: positive performances and positive results in the matches ahead.”

Renowned African football journalist Thomas Kwenaite has asserted that the Democratic Republic of Congo is a stronger team than Cameroon and Nigeria as they head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

DR Congo needed a total of thirteen matches to achieve qualification for the 2026 World Cup, successfully defeating various opponents along the way, including the Super Eagles.

Their qualification was secured through the intercontinental playoffs, where an extra-time goal from Axel Tuanzebe resulted in a 1–0 victory over Jamaica.

The Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) has launched an aggressive recruitment initiative, successfully persuading several dual-national players to commit to the Leopards, with fewer than ten members of the current squad actually born in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Following their penalty shootout defeat, the Super Eagles filed a formal protest with FIFA, claiming that the Democratic Republic of Congo had fielded several ineligible dual-national players; however, the complaint was ultimately rejected.

Kwenaite praised the Leopards for their outstanding performances against notable African teams such as Nigeria and Cameroon.

“The most crucial factor is that they are back. When you analyze their performance during the qualifiers, especially their victories over both Cameroon and Nigeria, it is clear that they were the superior team,” Kwenaite remarked on SuperSport’s Soccer Africa.

The seasoned pundit further emphasized the quality and determination displayed by the Congolese team, noting that their strategy set them apart from their rivals throughout the campaign.

“They were the better team, they performed exceptionally well. It was evident that they were the more motivated of the so-called big teams. I am very pleased,” Kwenaite added.

Josh Maja was on target in West Bromwich Albion’s 2-2 home draw against Wrexham at the Hawthorns on Friday.

Maja scored Albion’s second goal of the game from the penalty spot.

It was the forward’s third goal of the season for the Baggies.

The 27-year-old has also registered one assist in 33 league appearances for West Brom this season.

Maja was replaced by Daryl Dike 18 minutes from time.

Wrexham also paraded Nigerian-born goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo in the game.

Manchester United has announced that full-back Jaydan Kamason has signed a new deal with the club.

The Red Devils disclosed in a post on its website on Friday that the 19-year-old has put pen-to-paper on fresh terms that will run until 2028, with the option of a further year.

Kamason became the first player from the Academy’s Emerging Talent Programme (ETP) to sign a professional contract at United in 2023.

He joined the ETP at the age of 10, while playing for local grassroots team Stockport Vikings.

Kamason has made 15 appearances for Man United’s Under-21s across Premier League Two, Premier League International Cup and National League Cup.

“Congratulations to Jaydan on his new contract and best of luck for what lies ahead,” Man United’s statement partly read.

Nigeria National League, NNL, side Abakaliki FC have been eliminated from the President Federation Cup, DAILY POST reports.

Abakaliki FC were bundled out of the competition by non-league side Esthington FC in the preliminary round of the competition.

Esthington FC defeated Abakalkii FC 6-5 on penalities in the Ebonyi State FA Cup.

The game at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium ended in a goal-less draw.

DAILY POST recalls that Abakaliki FC reached the final of the competition last year.

They were beaten by Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Kwara United in the final game of the competition.

Former Trabzonspor coach, Sadi Tekelioğlu, has weighed in on Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu, declaring the Galatasaray hitman the more threatening force in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s fixture between Trabzonspor and Galatasaray at Papara Park, Tekelioğlu argued that Osimhen’s absence would be a major boost for the home side, while Onuachu missing out wouldn’t hurt Galatasaray nearly as much.

“Osimhen’s absence is a big advantage for Trabzonspor, but I can’t say the same for Galatasaray regarding Onuachu’s absence; they will fill that gap,” Tekelioğlu said Habersarikirmizi

“I don’t think Onuachu will affect Trabzonspor as much as Osimhen affected Galatasaray. Galatasaray is much more important for Osimhen. There’s no more dangerous player than Osimhen in Turkey right now.”

Osimhen and Onuachu are both international teammates with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Osimhen has scored 12 and Onuachu has scored 21goals, respectively for their clubs this season.

The Nigeria National League, NNL, has announced a change in date for the matchday 17 fixture involving Sporting Lagos and First Bank FC

The encounter which was initially scheduled for Sunday, 5 April will now hold on Saturday 4 April, 2026.

The game will be played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan.

The reason for the change in date was not stated.

Sporting Lagos are currently pushing hard to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL while First bank FC are battling to avoid relegation.

The modest club occupy second position on the NNL Conference B table with First Bank FC rooted at the bottom of the table.

Inter Milan can sign Ademola Lookman from Atletico Madrid in the near future if the Serie A giants sell Marcus Thuram and Alessandro Bastoni.

This was disclosed by Italian transfer expert Paolo Paganini.

Recall that Lookman was close to joining Inter Milan last summer, but a deal to bring him to San Siro fell through.

However, Paganini believes Inter may consider revisiting their pursuit of the Nigeria international if they make a good profit from the sale of Thuram and Bastoni.

“If Inter lets Thuram go and makes a profit from the sale of Bastoni, they can bring back Ademola Lookman. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried again,” Paganini said, as quoted by Mundodeportivo.

“Thuram’s agent is touring Germany and England: he’s one of the players who will likely leave.”

Lookman joined Atletico Madrid from Serie A side Atalanta in the January transfer window.

Victor Osimhen has been named Footballer of the Year at the 72nd Annual Milliyet Sports Awards, DAILY POST reports

The Milliyet Sports Awards is considered one of the most prestigious honours in Turkey.

Osimhen played a key role in Galatasaray’s domestic double last season.

The Nigeria international registered 26 goals and four assists in 30 league appearances for the Yellow and Reds.

The 27-year-old added seven more in the UEFA Europa League, and five in the Turkish Cup.

This season, the striker has contributed 19 goals, and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray.
