Feyenoord have decided to sack Robin van Persie as their manager.

This means the Dutch club will begin the 2026/27 campaign under a new head coach.

A terse statement released on its X handle on Sunday, read: “Feyenoord will start the 2026-2027 season with a new head coach. The club would like to thank Robin van Persie for everything he gave during his time as head coach.”

Van Persie returned to his boyhood club as head coach in February 2025.

He leaves despite leading Feyenoord to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie and qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Explaining the decision, Feyenoord’s newly appointed technical director, Devy Rigaux, said, “We conducted a thorough internal analysis. In this, we took into account, among other things, the development of the style of play and the declining trend in terms of points total, both in Europe and in the Eredivisie.

“The conclusion was that it is better to start the next season with a new head coach.”

Barau FC defender, Orji Kalu, has labelled the Sunshine Stars U-19 team a tough side following their President Federation Cup Round of 16 clash.

The Maliya Boys defeated the Sunshine Stars U-19 team 2-1 in a keenly contested encounter in Abuja on Saturday.

Orji insisted that his team gave their best in the game.

“Sunshine Stars U-19 are a very strong side, no doubt,” Orji told Totori News.

“In football, there is no senior or junior team; you just have to give your all, and that helped us secure the win.”

Orji also expressed his team’s focus on their next fixture in the competition.

Robo Queens head coach, Emmanuel Osahon, has defended his team’s defeat to Rivers Angels in the opening fixture at the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, Super Six playoff tournament.

Osahon said that his players are making their debut in the competition compared to their opponents.

The Lagos-based side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Rivers Angels in Port-Harcourt on Saturday.

The veteran tactician believed that the experience is good for his players development.

“I’m not too disturbed with the outcome of the game because my girls are very young and they are featuring in the competition for the first time,” Osahon stated after the game.

“Majority of my girls are playing the tournament for the first time online Rivers Angels who are playing often in the competition.”

Former Chelsea defender, Frank Leboeuf, has urged Manchester United manager Michael Carrick to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery.

Leboeuf believes Zaire-Emery will be a great signing for Man United, adding that the 20-year-old will sacrifice himself for Carrick’s side.

He described the French star as a warrior as he urged Carrick to advise him because he played in his position during his playing days as a professional footballer.

“I think that would be a great signing for Manchester United, but he will need players around him to succeed,” Lebouef said of Zaire-Emery (as per Tribal Football).

“I’m very fond of Michael Carrick and the job he did for Manchester United, and he was playing in the position of Zaire-Emery.

“So I’m pretty sure he would give him great advice to improve. It could be a great move for him.

“Zaire-Emery is a warrior. He’s going to sacrifice himself for the team he plays for. That’s for sure,” he said.

Zaire-Emery’s current contract with PSG will expire in 2029, and it is yet to be seen if Man United will end up signing him this summer.

An update on former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen’s condition has been revealed after he collapsed during Denmark’s friendly 2-1 win against Ukraine on Sunday.

Recall that footage showed Eriksen grabbing his chest before collapsing in the 65th minute of the encounter.

The match was later abandoned, and Eriksen was taken to the hospital.

However, the Denmark federation has now provided an update on Eriksen’s condition.

“Christian Eriksen is conscious and ​is doing ⁠well under the circumstances,” ⁠the federation said in a ‌statement on X.

Meanwhile, Denmark’s national team doctor, Morten Boesen, who was credited with saving Eriksen’s life when he collapsed in 2021, provided a further update.

“Christian is doing well and walked off the pitch by himself,” he added. “As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should.

“He was briefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him.

“He will undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident. We are in ongoing contact with him and the doctors at the hospital.

In 2021, Eriksen collapsed during a European Championship match in Copenhagen against Finland.

He was given ​life-saving CPR treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.
