Lobi Stars have restructured their coaching crew ahead of the 2026-27 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.

The Pride of Benue missed out on a promotion ticket to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, last season.

Assistant coaches Benjamin Kude and Mathias Asongu have been redeployed from the main team to the club’s U-19 feeder side.

They will team up with Coach Stephen Waghbo, who is seconded from the Benue State Sports Council.

Former Lobi Stars goalkeeper Jighjigh Ahungwa has been appointed goalkeeper coach as part of efforts to strengthen the club’s developmental structure.

Outside the technical crew, former defender Odeh Ogah has been named Assistant Team Manager attached to the U-19 feeder team.

Lobi Stars management believed that the adjustments will help build a more competitive and disciplined side capable of meeting the demands and expectations of the upcoming campaign.

NNL: Lobi Stars restructure coaching crew 

Enyimba forward, Nelson Sule, has declared the team’s readiness for the President Federation Cup round 32 clash against Gombe United.

The People’s Elephant will do battle with Savannah Scorpions in Makurdi on Monday.

Sule said that the team is focused on securing the victory in the game.

“For our game on Monday, we are ready as we take the President Federation Cup 2026 one game at a time,” Sule was quoted by Completesports.

“We are not under pressure but rather concentrating on working hard to win the game on Monday against Gombe United.

The youngster however urged the club’s supporters not to give up on the team after their unimpressive league campaign.

“We urge all Enyimba fans to continue to believe in and pray for us as we promise not to let them down.”

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has suggested why Paris Saint-Germain defeated Arsenal to win the UEFA Champions League on Saturday.

Arsenal opened the scoring through Kai Havertz’s wonderful strike in the first half.

But the French Ligue 1 champions equalized in the second half, thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s penalty.

The encounter eventually entered a penalty shoot-out, and the Parisians won, after Eberechi Eze and Gabriel missed their spot kicks.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Carragher said that Mikel Arteta’s side doesn’t have enough quality in the attack,  which affected them against PSG.

“That is always the criticism of Arteta’s Arsenal. I think the way they played last night was almost the only way they could have played to try and beat PSG,” Carragher said.

“PSG weren’t great in the first half. Were they there for the taking? But that is what Arsenal are.

“What I would say, and I have said this all season, and I thought this would stop Arsenal winning the league but it didn’t: they don’t have enough quality in attack.

“Arsenal are fantastic, the best team in the world at defending their own box and their two centre-backs were outstanding last night, but even though they are the champions of England, they need better attackers.”

Lobi Stars have released 18 players following the completion of the 2025/26 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.

The list includes Orya Joseph, Daniel Abah, Atavti Samuel, Eyigege Pius, Achiv Douglas, Eru Jackson, Amia Kenneth, Ingbila Henry, Ofem Emmanuel, Itim Paul, Yanmar Moses and Iorliam Eric.

Bello Raji Egigogo, Edeh Chukwuebuka, Amara Christian, Ifeanyi Ezema, Jonathan John Abu and Okoh Chukwuma complete the list.

Meanwhile, Lobi Stars have retained 17 players for the 2026/27 campaign.

Kumaga Suur, Kwambe Solomon, Odinaka Francis, Akile Monday and Iteji Jimmy are among those retained.

Onah Peter, Agugu Benjamin, Foga Dominic, Imenger Barnabas Jnr, Kongbenda Joseph, Uja Manasseh, Sunday James, Atsaka Daniel, Egiga Valentine, Afeez Yusuf, Azeez Tijanni and John Akende will also remain with the team.

This follows the conclusion of the 2025/26 Champions League final on Saturday.

Recall that PSG defeated Arsenal on penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw to win the Champions League in Budapest.

UCL: UEFA includes five PSG players, Arsenal trio, others in Team of the Season

Neymar will again wear the No.10 shirt for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.

The South American nations have officially confirmed squad numbers ahead of the tournament.

Neymar will be playing at the World Cup, after head coach Carlo Ancelotti chose to keep him despite recent injury struggles.

Not only will he be at the competition, but he will also be wearing the iconic No. 10 jersey.

The Santos forward is not fully fit and could miss Brazil’s opening match due to a calf problem.

Neymar’s inclusion and his assignment of the No. 10 come after months of speculation regarding his standing under the current coaching regime.

The 34-year-old will be hoping to contribute to the team as they chase a sixth title.

Arsenal defender, Gabriel Magalhaes, has spoken about his “pain” at missing the crucial penalty, as they lost to Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s Champions League final.

The Gunners held on for much of the game following Kai Havertz’s early opener.

But Ousmane drew PSG level from the penalty spot after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes and had to be decided on penalties.

Gabriel missed Arsenal’s fifth kick after Eberechi Eze sent his effort wide.

“It’s painful, but I’m proud of this team and everything we achieved together this season,” Gabriel wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you to our incredible fans for your support every step of the way. You deserve to celebrate this journey with us and enjoy the parade today!

UCL final: Gabriel breaks silence after missing penalty as Arsenal lose to PSG

Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze are in the running for Fulham’s Goal of the Season award, DAILY POST reports.

Fulham listed 15 goals for the individual accolade.

Versatile midfielder Alex Iwobi earned double nominations.

The 30-year-old was nominated for his goals against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Chukwueze is in contention for his superb effort from inside the box against Manchester City.

The winner will be selected based on votes cast by fans.

The encounter is slated for the  PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Millwall winger, Femi Azeez, has been drafted in to replace Samuel Chukwueze.

Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have both pulled out of the friendly.

Midfielders Alhassan Yusuf and Samson Tijani will not travel with the team due to visa issues.

Super Eagles fly out to Warsaw for Poland friendly 

Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday joined Real Madrid and Ajax in an exclusive record after winning this season’s UEFA Champions League trophy.

The Parisians defeated Arsenal on penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes in Budapest.

Kai Havertz and Ousmane Dembele scored the goals for their respective clubs during the encounter.

However, the victory over Arsenal means PSG are only the third side ever to win both their league title and the UEFA Champions League in back-to-back seasons, after Real Madrid (1956-57/1957-58) and Ajax (1971-72/1972-73).

PSG have already won the French Ligue 1 title this season before the Champions League final.
