Falconets striker Janet Akekoromowei has joined Portuguese champions Benfica, DAILY POST reports.

Akekoromowei put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the option of another two years.

The 18-year-old last played for Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, outfit Bayelsa Queens.

The youngster was named Most Valuable Player In the 2024/25 season after scoring 13 goals in 19 matches for Nasarawa Amazons..

On the international scene, Akekoromowei was part of the Falconets side that participated in the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

She has also been capped at full international level by Nigeria.

Transfer: Adams moves to Venezia on four-year deal 

Adams has signed a contract with the Orange and Green until June 30, 2030.
The Nigeria international registered 10 goals and four assists in 37 appearances for Sevilla.

Adams revealed the reason behind his decision to move to Venice.

“I chose to come here because I see the extraordinary project Venezia is building, and I want to contribute to writing a new chapter in its history,” he told the club’s official website.

The 26-year-old previously played for Sogndal IL and Lillestrøm SK in Norway, as well as Montpellier in France.

Kwara United have unveiled 16 new players for the 2026-27 season, DAILY POST reports.
The Ilorin-based club retained only 14 players from the previous season.

The Harmony Boys made the announcement during the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday at the club secretariat.

The club chairman, Mr Kumbi Titiloye, said the signings were made to strengthen the squad following the departure of several players whose contracts expired.

Among the newly recruited players are goalkeepers Stanley Victor from Kada City and Ouattara Khalifa from Alemas FC, Mali.

The defenders are Ferinyaro Ali from Kada Warriors, Peace Dewan from Bendel Insurance, Ada Adamu from Barau FC, and Uche Daniel from Yobe Desert FC, while the midfielders and forwards are Anthony Nnamdi from Bendel Insurance and Emmanuel Ekpeyong from ASEAMI FC.

Others are Obed Ponkap from Barau FC, Ajibola Ayomade from Ikorodu City, Solomon Shoola from Abraysports, Benjamin Jack from Nasarawa United, and Sanni Mohammed from ACAS FA, Laos.

Muyiwa Majayogbe has signed a two-year contract with Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Doma United, DAILY POST reports.

Majayogbe joined the Savannah Tigers from Nigeria National League (NNL) side Crown FC.

The goalkeeper reunited with head coach Ayodeji Ayeni at Doma United.

Majayogbe played under Ayeni at Crown FC last season.

He featured regularly for the Ogbomoso club during the campaign.

Majayogbe will give the Savannah Tigers more options in defence as they look to make an impact on their return to the NPFL.

Doma United gained promotion to the NPFL after a two-year absence.

Abba Mika Kofar Mata is currently undergoing trials with Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Barau FC, DAILY POST reports.

Kofar Mata joined the Maliya Boys training sessions this week as he seeks to impress the technical crew.

Barau FC technical crew are evaluating the player before making a final decision.

Kofar Mata featured prominently for Bichi First FC during the 2025-26 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.

The winger is known for his pace, direct running and ability to take on defenders.

Barau FC are looking to add more attacking depth ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Falolu joined the reigning Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, champions following lengthy discussions between both sides.

He becomes one of Rangers’ early additions of the summer transfer window.

Rangers technical adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu is reported to be a huge admirer of the player.

His arrival will add more firepower and depth to the Flying Antelopes’ attack.

Falolu is expected to be unveiled as one of the Rangers’ new signings in coming weeks.

Rangers will be hoping the young forward can hit the ground running as they seek to defend their title.

EPL: Morgan Rogers’ squad number at Chelsea revealed

The squad number for Chelsea’s latest recruit, Morgan Rogers, has been revealed.

The England international officially joined Chelsea on Tuesday from Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old signed a contract with the Blues until 2033, having moved to Stamford Bridge in a £117 million deal.

The attacking midfielder will now follow in the footsteps of former Chelsea ace Eden Hazard and wear the number 17 shirt at the Premier League west London club.

The iconic jersey was previously worn by Hazard, as well as Pedro and Mateo Kovacic.

Pelican Stars Football Club, a female football team owned by the Cross River State government, have earned promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership after defeating DreamStar Ladies FC 1-0 in the final of the 2026 NWFL Championship Playoffs in Calabar.

Blessing Ayila struck deep into stoppage time at the U.J. Esuene Stadium to hand the Cross River side victory and complete an unbeaten run through the tournament.

The Calabar club won all four matches in the competition, which featured 16 teams battling for two promotion tickets, defeating Ikukuoma Queens 2-1, Gallant Queens 2-0 and Moje Queens 1-0 before overcoming DreamStar Ladies in the final.

Imo Strikers Queens also secured promotion after beating Rangers Women FC 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw.

Reacting to the feat, the Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Etta Lawrence Itanya, hailed the players and coaching crew for their resilience and dedication, describing the promotion as a major achievement for the state.
