Filmmaker Stanley Ontop arrested, detained in Asaba

Famous Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, has been arrested for alleged defamation.

Stanley was reportedly arrested and detained by the Delta State Police Command on Tuesday following a petition by actress, Queeneth Hilbeth.

Stanley’s associate and activist, Mama Pee, raised the alarm in a series of posts on her Instagram story.

While accusing Queeneth Hilbeth of using the Nigeria Police to harass and intimidate people, Mama Pee said, “Stanley Ontop arrested and detained in SCID Asaba!

He said, “Free Stanley Ontop, @queenethhilbert you all should stop using police to harass people. Dear Queeneth Hilbeth, how about going to court instead of using police to intimidate? Whoever has a case should go to court or is defamation not for court again?

“Delta State Police why is Stanley in detention? These are two public figures!”

Newly elected AGN president arrested after Lagos car accident

Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has reportedly been arrested after being allegedly involved in a fatal car accident in Surulere, Lagos.

Yakubu secured the AGN presidency in a closely contested election, defeating veteran actress Rita Daniels with 116 votes to 113, while three votes were declared invalid.

His election marks a historic milestone as he becomes the first Northern Nigerian to lead the Guild since its official registration in 1998, a position traditionally held by individuals from Southern Nigeria.

The incident in Surulere reportedly resulted in the death of a pedestrian, although details surrounding the accident remain unclear.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding Yakubu’s arrest or the circumstances of the crash.
