African Renaissance Congress, ARC, seeks INEC approval, registration as political party
A new political movement, the African Renaissance Congress, ARC, has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for registration as a political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a letter addressed to the INEC Chairman and signed by Alhaji Aliyu Audu, Convener of the African Renaissance Movement, and Dr Omamoke Omavovwa Sophia Ubiame, Co-Convener, the group said the ARC was conceived as a vessel for “rebirth, renewal, and rescue” of Nigeria.
According to the letter, the African Renaissance Congress derives its inspiration from the biblical symbolism of Noah’s Ark, positioning itself as a “vessel of political, spiritual, and economic redemption” in a time of what it described as “rampant corruption, broken leadership, systemic injustice, and spiritual disconnection.”
The party outlined its threefold mission as:
”Rescuing Nigeria in 2027 through governance rooted in competence, conscience, and compassion.
”Catalyzing Africa’s rebirth by positioning Nigeria as a continental leader in sustainable development and ideological clarity.
”Offering Nigerians a new covenant based on values, vision, and verifiable impact rather than political patronage.”
The ARC said it seeks to manifest as a **“**political party of conscience and credibility, a continental force for dignity and prosperity, and a youth-powered revolution aligning governance with data, innovation, and spiritual renewal.”
The application to INEC was accompanied by key documents, including a Statement of Ideology, Doctrine of Progressive Africanism, a Manifesto Summary (The ARC 7 Guiding Beams), and a Charter of Values and Organisational Structure.
The group assured the electoral commission of its commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the 2022 Electoral Act.
INEC is expected to review the application before deciding whether to grant the ARC full registration as a political party eligible to contest elections in Nigeria.
