Akiolu tasks police officers, wives on retirement plans

Wives of police officers across the country have been advised to support their husbands to discharge their statutory duties effectively and assist them to adequately prepare for life after retirement by saving for rainy days. This advice was given by the Oba of Lagos, Riliwan Aremu Akiolu while playing host to a delegation of top executive members of the Police Officers Wives Association of Nigeria, (POWA) , led by the National President and wife of the lnspector General of Police, Mrs. Queen Egbetokun, in his palace at lga Iduganran, Lagos lsland. Akiolu, a retired Assistant lnspector General of Police, explained that women play a major in the success or failure of their husbands.

He urged the leadership of POWA to continuously empower and educate their members as well as bring up their children in the fear of God. Akiolu also advised the leadership of POWA to ensure that lands allocated for the construction of shops for their members across the country are properly managed.

Speaking on the menace of incessant land grabbing in Lagos, Akiolu expressed optimism that the menace will soon end, especially with creation of the Special Task force on Land Grabbing by the state government.

On the state of the nation, Akiolu, who was confident that the issue of insecurity will soon be a thing of the past, urged all Nigerians to contribute their quota towards nation building

Earlier, the POWA National President, Mrs. Egbetokun, who commended the monarch for his contribution towards a better Nigeria, said she and her team, which comprises wives of state commissioner of police, were in the palace to seek Akiolu’s royal blessings and support to make her tenure, as national president of POWA successful. The climax of the programme was the presentation of a POWA award of excellence to the monarch .
