Remo Stars technical adviser, Usman Abdallah has revealed that his team must fight to avoid defeat in their remaining fixtures in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, this season.

The Sky Blue Stars are battling to escape relegation after a difficult campaign.

The title holders currently occupy 17th position on the log.

Remo Stars will face Abdallah’s former club, Kano Pillars this weekend.

The former Super Eagles assistant coach is expecting a difficult duel.

“Kano is a very competitive place to be, now every single match we have to achieve something from the game,” Abdallah told Remo Stars media.

“We don’t need to drop any points until the end of the season and in our home ground we must ensure we get the maximum points in the games, If not it’s going to be very difficult.”

Former Premier League star, Andy Townsend has said that Manchester United should hire Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, this summer to reach the same level as Arsenal and Manchester City.

Townsend believes Simeone has the ability to push the players really hard, making them work hard to win games, even though his way of playing focuses a lot on defense.

Manchester United decided to hire Michael Carrick as the temporary manager on January 13, 2026, to take over from Ruben Amorim.

Carrick has done well so far, getting four wins and one draw in his five games as manager, with wins against Arsenal and Manchester City.

Carrick is only signed with Manchester United until the end of the season, but a lot of fans want the club to make him their permanent player because of how good he has been.

Townsend told BoyleSports, through Metro, “I think there’s probably someone else who is better than Michael Carrick, even though he has done a great job.

“I believe there are other people who are more capable of handling a club like Manchester United than he is. I think you’re looking for a top manager, someone who has worked with the biggest stars and most famous players, and has dealt with pressure from the club’s owners and from fans in the stands.

“I don’t think Antonio Conte would be the right choice. Among all the managers, the one I’d most like to see at United is Diego Simeone. I think his football and how his Atletico Madrid team plays is more suited to the Premier League.

“I don’t think his style of play would make United fans happy. They want something more flamboyant. Right now, United need to catch up with teams like City and Liverpool and try to move ahead of Arsenal.

“I don’t think you want someone who’s always talking about the beautiful game.

“You need someone who is ready to put a lot of pressure on the players all the time and get good performances and wins out of them. Only Simeone has those qualities. ”

Diego Simeone has become one of the top managers in Europe by leading Atletico Madrid since 2011. His experience could help Manchester United because he has guided his team to eight trophies, including two LaLiga titles.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, and former Arsenal winger Freddie Ljungberg have named their PFA Player of the Season.

Speaking to Viaplay, Schmeichel picked Arsenal’s David Raya as the player who should win the PFA Player of the Year award, saying he has been outstanding.

On his part, Ljungberg went for Manchester City attacker Erling Haaland.

Speaking on the player to win the PFA Player of the Year award this term, Schmeichel said, “There is one outstanding candidate, and that is Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya.

“If you take him out of Arsenal, Arsenal are nowhere near that first position they’re in now.”

Also speaking, Ljungberg said, “I would probably go with Haaland. He has scored really important goals.”
