Lagos: LAWMA revokes licences of underperforming PSP operators

The Lagos Waste Management Authority has revoked the licences of several underperforming Private Sector Participation, PSP, operators and restructured waste collection routes in areas experiencing increased waste generation across the state.
The Managing Director of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Lagos.
Gbadegesin explained that the action followed a comprehensive operational review aimed at matching operators’ capacity with the rising waste management demands driven by rapid urban growth.
He noted that the affected operators were unable to meet the required service standards, making the withdrawal of their licences necessary to safeguard public health and ensure environmental sustainability.
The operators listed include Kenny JPS (Igando-Ikotun, Egan II), Clean Craft Nig. Ltd. (Igando-Ikotun, Isheri-Oshun I), Doveroost Ltd. (Eti-Osa West), Dewayls (Orade, Ijegun Emure), and Pesjoy Ventures (Ejigbo, Bucknor II).
The LAWMA boss further stated that waste collection routes have been reorganised in fast-developing areas to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Under the new structure, existing operators will continue to manage parts of their designated zones, while additional operators have been deployed to support coverage and enhance performance.
“Operators affected by the route realignment include Shekaz Global Ltd. (Isolo, Ishaga/Ire Akari axis) and Krestabol Waste Management (Ikorodu, Lowa),” he said.
He added that in areas where expansion has exceeded the capacity of a single operator, redistribution of responsibilities became necessary to ensure timely waste evacuation.
Gbadegesin also disclosed that some operators voluntarily ceded portions of their routes, enabling LAWMA to reassign those areas to more capable service providers.
“Operators in this category include Ayolade Oluwabukola Enterprises (Lagos Island East, Ajele axis) and Imperium Waste Services (Ayobo/Ipaja, Slot B),” he added.
He emphasised that the restructuring is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the PSP framework, improve accountability, and ensure that waste management services keep pace with the state’s rapid development.
Residents were urged to cooperate with newly assigned operators and to engage only LAWMA-accredited PSP operators.
Gbadegesin reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustained monitoring, enforcement, and stakeholder collaboration to achieve a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Lagos.
