Transfer: Swedish club Hammarby sign Nigerian youngster

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has revealed that manager Antonio Conte told him to sell Victor Osimhen and not Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the past.

According to De Laurentiis, Paris Saint-Germain had tabled a combined €200 million bid for both stars, but Napoli ultimately lost Kvaratskhelia to the French club, while Osimhen ended up at Galatasaray.

Reflecting on the decision, De Laurentiis confessed as he told The Athletic, “When we started with Conte, we received an offer of €200 million from PSG and others to sell Victor Osimhen and Kvara together.

“Conte said, ‘Osimhen, you can sell, but please don’t sell Kvara. This was a big mistake.”

Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen have been impressive since joining PSG and Galatasaray, respectively.

Former Arsenal star, Paul Merson, has advised manager Mikel Arteta to make significant changes ahead of their Premier League clash against Leeds United on Saturday.

Merson believes it is time to shake up the starting XI by introducing Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Martinelli after Arsenal’s 3-2 loss to Manchester United last weekend.

Arteta had left Gyokeres and Martinelli out of the lineup against Manchester United, choosing to start Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Trossard instead.

“Leeds away won’t be easy, no doubt about it,” Merson stated during an interview with Sportskeeda.

“Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Martinelli should come into the starting line-up for this game.

“Leandro Trossard will give you a bit of guile, but I think Martinelli’s pace will be really useful against Leeds.”

Former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy, has predicted Arsenal’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

The two Premier League heavyweights are set to battle it out for the first major silverware of the season on Sunday evening at Wembley Stadium.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy insisted that neither side enters the final as the outright favourite, predicting a 50-50 chance.

“When Arsenal play Manchester City at Wembley this weekend, I really see it as a 50-50 game,” Murphy said.

“I don’t know how you could say they (Arsenal) are favourites, anyone can win the Carabao Cup.

“A moment of madness, a moment of magic, whatever,” he said.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 5:30 pm Nigerian time.
