NPFL: Wikki Tourists to miss six players against Bayelsa United

Wikki Tourists will be without the services of six players for the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday 34 clash against Bayelsa United.
The absentees are Nasiru Jibrin, Klingshak Longbak, Utum Godswill, Haruna Aliyu, Usman Abdullahi and Ibrahim Shuaibu.
Jibrin is currently recovering from a knee injury, while Longbak is out due to fever.
First-choice goalkeeper Godswill is suspended after receiving a first-half red card in the 2-2 draw against Enyimba.
Aliyu, Abdullahi and Shuaibu are all sidelined with different injuries.
Wikki Tourists will trade tackles with Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Sunday.
The Bauchi Elephants must avoid defeat to boost their chances of avoiding relegation.

The Nationwide League One, NLO, has resolved to return to a stadium-based league format for the 2026 season, citing security concerns and the financial strain of a traditional home-and-away schedule.

The decision was reached at the league’s Annual General Meeting, held virtually on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Delegates at the meeting also appealed for an extension on registration fees to ease the burden on clubs.

The NLO said the venue for the league fixtures will be announced at a later date.

The stadium-based model is expected to reduce travel costs and improve match security, while also making games more TV-friendly.

DAILY POST recalls that the NLO has faced challenges in recent years with club funding and match security, prompting calls for structural reforms.

Officials said the new format is part of broader efforts to stabilize the league and create a more sustainable structure for clubs.

Liverpool midfielder, Alexis MacAllister, has ruled out his team from this season’s Premier League title race.

Arne Slot’s men began their title defence in impression fashion recording five straight wins at the start of campaign.

With Arsenal beating Bournemouth 3-2 on Saturday, the Reds travel to Fulham on Sunday sitting 15 points off the top.

“There are not many chances of Liverpool retaining the title. I hate to say it, but it is quite clear,” MacAllister told Sky Sports.

“Arsenal is in a really good moment, Manchester City is quite close, but we are not close in terms of performances, or results, so I do not see us becoming champions again.”

Udinese head coach, Kosta Runjaic, has confirmed Maduka Okoye’s availability for Monday’s clash with Como, DAILY POST reports.

Okoye sustained a thigh injury on international duty with Nigeria last week.

The goalkeeper featured in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Iran’s Team Melli.

The 26-year-old was, however, released before the 2-2 draw with Jordan’s Al-Nashama after picking up an injury in training.

Runjaic revealed they trained with a full squad on Sunday for the first time since the end of the international break.

“Except for Zemura, Buksa and Zanoli, everyone is available. Today we finally trained with the full squad after the international break,”Runjaic told the club’s official website.
