Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has cautioned politicians in Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area, against actions that could undermine the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the Emirate.
Bago gave the warning on Friday during a Sallah homage visit to the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II, at his palace in Kagara.
He stressed the need for political actors to conduct their activities peacefully, noting that leadership is determined by Allah, who gives power to whomever he chooses.
The governor commended security agencies and the Emirate Council for their efforts in curbing the activities of informants and terrorists in the area, adding that his administration would not allow politics of bitterness to reverse the gains recorded in maintaining peace.
He also assured residents that work would soon resume on the 10-kilometre and 5-kilometre road projects in the area, while plans were underway to fence the Kagara General Hospital.
Bago further disclosed that a new Government Science College would be constructed in Kagara, noting that the current school facility is being used by the military as a base.
He added that a mini airport would also be built in the area to improve mobility and strengthen security.
The governor urged farmers to remain committed to farming in the next season, assuring them that his administration would provide agricultural inputs and implements at subsidized rates to guarantee a bumper harvest.
In his remarks, the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II, appreciated the governor for the visit and commended his efforts in addressing insecurity in the Emirate.
He noted that the improved security situation had led to the revival of the traditional horse riding festival during Sallah celebrations and the return of farmers to their farmlands, boosting economic activities.
The Emir pledged continued support for the governor’s administration and prayed for sustained peace in the Emirate, the state and the country.
Similarly, the member representing Rafi/Shiroro/Munya Federal Constituency, Ismail Musa Modibbo, and the Chairman of Rafi Local Government Council, Alhaji Usman Ayuba Katako, commended the governor for his achievements in security, road infrastructure, and healthcare delivery across the state.
They reaffirmed their support for his administration’s developmental agenda.
