THE Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun, District 9110, will tomorrow celebrate its 20th anniversary and hold a change of baton ceremony in the club.
According to the 2023-2024 President of the club, Reuben Oni, the 20th anniversary luncheon, awards and change of guard ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 29, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Rotary Centre, Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja, GRA, Lagos.

Also, chairman of the 20th anniversary, Mopelola Aminat Otuokhile, said “awards and certificates of recognition would be presented to eminent individuals that have contributed significantly to the formation and growth of the club.”
The club will change the baton of leadership from Reuben Oni (2023-2024), to Bukonla Alamu (2024-2025), Chief Executive of Jaybuk Tools Ltd, a leading distributor of machine tools and heavy equipment firm.

According to Otuokhile, “awardees include Rotary Club of Agege, the midwife Club; the Charter President, Rotarian Joseph Wright Nyingifa; Late Rotarian Professor Alaba Akinsete (posthumous); Past President, Late Rotarian Adedoyin Adeyemo (posthumous); Rotarian Idris Ariyo, Past President; Rotarian Ibiyinka Aghedo, the then District Governor Special Representative; and Rotarian Dele Oriola, club host during the provisional period.

Others are Past Assistant Governor Adedayo Akinbobola; Assistant Governor Charles Okonkwo; Past President Bankole Shonubi; Past Assistant Governor Fuad Ajakaye and Past Assistant Governor Samson Okenyi.

The anniversary luncheon will have Past District Governor District 9110, Rotarian Oluwaninsomo Omoniyi as the Chairman and Past District Governor Bola Oyebade will deliver the keynote address on the theme “Becoming a vibrant Rotary Club in the global Rotary family:”

In his contribution, Rotarian Femi Oloyede, Assistant Governor and Chairman of the Council of Past Presidents noted that: “Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun members have selflessly contributed significantly over the years, to the development of the Ewu Tuntun community with the construction of several boreholes such as the giant water treatment plant at Oba Shakirdeen Adeshina Kuti, Elewu of Ewu Land Palace; donation of wheelchairs to physically challenged individuals; donation of 6.5 million water plant to Orphanage Home and Olodo Community at Ibadan; renovation of the Primary Health Centre at Ewu Tuntun and donation of consumables worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to Oshodi and Mafoluku Primary Health Centres; construction of toilets and donation of library to the adopted Central Primary School, Oshodi, Lagos; skills acquisition training in conjunction with UNDP Centre and Oshodi Local Government for over 2,000 youths and empowerment of entrepreneurs; among others.”

The club is also among the partner clubs on the Global Grant project titled ‘Little Steps, Big Health’ that is going on in Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun states.

Oloyede further salutes the foresight, resilience, and teamwork that are richly enjoyed in the club and which has positioned the club as the true ‘Gateway Club’ of Rotary District 9110 Nigeria.
