NPFL: Enugu govt urges Rangers to keep pushing for success

The Enugu State government have charged Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Rangers to sustain their hunger for success.
The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ike Lloyd Ekweremadu gave the charge during a visit to the team.
Ekweremadu expressed satisfaction with the dedication and focus of the players in training.
Rangers are on a five- game unbeaten run in the NPFL.
“I was particularly impressed to see the players fully back to training showing true professionalism, focus, and hunger for sustained success,” Ekweremadu stated during his visit.
“It was a pleasure engaging with the team, celebrating their achievements, and encouraging continued dedication, unity, and excellence on and off the pitch.”
Rangers will do battle with defending champions Remo Stars in their next game in Enugu.

Former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has named four advantages Manchester City have over Arsenal in the Premier League title race this season.

Hargreaves pointed out the expertise of Man City manager Pep Guardiola, as well as the presence of star players like striker Erling Haaland, midfielder Rodri, and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, as pivotal factors in City’s edge over the Gunners.

He noted that while Arsenal currently enjoys a points lead, they trail in experience, which could be a decisive factor as the season progresses.

“If there’s one thing in City’s favour [amid Premier League title race], it’s definitely Pep,” Hargreaves said on Premier League Productions.

“They have Donnarumma, who proved it at PSG last season, they also have Haaland, Rodri, who have been there and done it.”

The teams with the most cards, offsides and clean sheets during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, tournament in Morocco have been confirmed.

DAILY POST reports that the 2025 AFCON was recently concluded in Morocco last weekend.

Senegal emerged champions following a 1-0 win against Morocco in the AFCON final, thanks to Pape Gueye’s second-half goal.

However, in a post on CAF’s website, the country with the most cards are champions, Senegal.

The Teranga Lions had 17 yellow cards and 1 red card during the tournament in Morocco.

The country with the most offsides is Egypt.

The Pharaohs, who were defeated in the third-place playoff, recorded 15 offsides.

Similarly, the countries with the most clean sheets are Senegal and Morocco. Both teams have 5 clean sheets each.

NPFL: Kano Pillars get N1.3m cash reward for beating Remo Stars

Kano Pillars have been rewarded with a cash gift for their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday 25 victory over Remo Stars FC.

The Sai Masu Gida defeated the Sky Blue Stars 1-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium last Sunday.

Luis Dadong grabbed the goal that earned Kano Pillars maximum points in the game.

The players received a cash prize of N1.4 million for the win against Remo Stars.

“We want Kano Pillars to return to where it belongs. We have lived too long on past glory, and now is the time to rebuild and rebrand the club to a higher level,” Chairman of the Kano State House Committee on Sports, Kabiru Dahiru Sule, stated while presenting the cash prize.

Kano Pillars will take on Kwara United in their next game in Ilorin this weekend.

Mohammed Babaganaru’s side occupy 17th position, while Kwara United are 18th in the league table, with 28 and 27 points, respectively.
