NNL: Akwa United eye swift return to NPFL

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, is likely to be without Hugo Ekitike for their Premier League trip to Arsenal on Thursday.

Ekitike is struggling with a muscle problem and did not play in the 2-2 draw with Fulham last weekend.

The Frenchman is now a big doubt for the heavyweight clash against the league leaders.

“He has not trained with us till now – let’s see if he can today,” Slot told reporters on Wednesday.

“I said two days ago before Fulham that he will not be out for long, but as the games come so fast, he is in between training with the team, or it may take him a few days extra.”

Raphael Onyedika is eager to leave Belgian Pro League outfit, Club Brugge before the end of the current transfer window, DAILY POST reports.

Turkish Super Lig champions, Galatasaray have keen interest in the defensive midfielder, and have reportedly agreed personal terms with his representatives.

A million euros a year salary is also on the table for Onyedika.

Club Brugge have, however, rejected Galatasaray’s bid  for the Nigeria international.

They are desperate to keep the 24-year-old until the end of the season, according to Voetbalkrant.

Onyedika, who has one year and a half left on his contract, joined Brugge from Danish outfit, FC Midtylland in 2022.

Kwara United have received a timely injury boost ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Matchday 18 fixture against Bayelsa United.

The Harmony Boys will welcome back a quartet of players — Olarewaju Abdulrahman, Issa Gata, Aule Johnmark, and Obiora Kingsley — for the game.

The players have returned to training in preparation for the clash against Bayelsa United.

The return of the four players is a major motivation for Suleiman Ashifat’s side as they aim to get back to winning ways following their recent defeat to Enyimba.

Kwara United will face Bayelsa United at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl Stadium in Ilorin on Sunday.

Both teams will be seeking to secure maximum points from the encounter.
