The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has arrested five suspects with a truck loaded with vandalised rail tracks in Bauchi State.
ASC Saminu Yusuf, the Bauchi State Command’s Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, in a statement on Friday, said the Corps received intelligence on January 12, 2026, at about 3 am around Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, and immediately, personnel swung into action, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
“NSCDC personnel on patrol along Miri, Jos Road intercepted a Dangote truck with a registration number MDB 360 XA loaded with vandalised railway track and slippers covered with bags of chicken feeds, heading to the Eastern part of Nigeria,” the statement said.
It said that one of the suspects, identified as Mr. John, the mastermind of the intercepted vandalised railway track, and Auwal, the truck driver, were at large, adding that the command is intensifying efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects.
It named the five suspects arrested as: Adam Kolo, 42, Borno State; Samuel Musa, 44, Yobe State; Solomon Jankaro, 40, Niger State; Emmanuel Collins, 26, Enugu State; and Sunday David, 20, Enugu State.
Items recovered included 80 pieces of vandalised railway track, five pieces of slippers, bags of chicken feed, one long vehicle truck, and a Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN.
Similarly, a suspected motorcycle thief, Nura Abdullahi of Wuntin Dada area, Bauchi, was arrested on January 14, 2026, at around 2 am.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to purchasing stolen motorcycles from two other suspects based in Bauchi State.
He further admitted to selling eight motorcycles to one Mr. Abdul Abdullahi Magaji at Gindiri, Mangu LGA, Plateau State, estimated to be valued at about N2,020,000. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover the exhibits.
The Commandant of NSCDC, Bauchi State Command, Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, commended the efforts of his personnel for their unwavering commitment towards safeguarding national infrastructure.
According to him, NSCDC Bauchi State Command has resolved to eliminate vandals and other forms of crime in the state. He also warned perpetrators to either desist from such acts or face legal consequences if arrested.
