
Two persons have been confirmed dead, while about 40 others sustained varying degrees of injury in a fatal crash along the Gombe–Potiskum Road in Yobe State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at about 2:30 pm near Badejo town, in Potiskum Local Government Area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency, Musa Ali Maigari, confirmed the incident in a statement.
“The accident involved a canter vehicle conveying over 60 passengers from surrounding villages to Potiskum for market activities.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle while in motion, resulting in a serious crash.
“As a consequence of the accident, 48 passengers sustained varying degrees of serious injuries, while two persons unfortunately lost their lives”, he said.
The agency called on motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, avoid overloading, and drive with caution in order to safeguard lives on the roads.
