
The Kano State Police Command has said that seven people were killed after armed attackers broke into a home in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.
Police said they received an emergency call at about 12:10 pm on January 17, 2025, reporting an attack on the home of Haruna Bashir.
The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children. They were attacked by unknown assailants who forced their way into the house.
According to the police, the attackers used dangerous weapons, inflicting fatal injuries.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered an immediate response, deploying officers led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani, to the scene.
The victims were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where doctors confirmed them dead.
“Bodies were evacuated and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where they were pronounced dead. A team led by ACP Wada Jarma, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was instructed to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement added.
The police also said that the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, had been directed to carry out a full investigation to arrest those responsible.
The police command expressed condolences to the victims’ family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State.
