Popular Nollywood special effects artist, James Akaie dies in film set explosion

Vince Zampella, the acclaimed co-creator of the blockbuster video game franchise Call of Duty, has died in a car accident, gaming giant Electronic Arts confirmed on Monday. He was 55.

According to local broadcaster NBC4, Zampella was driving his Ferrari on a scenic road north of Los Angeles on Sunday when the vehicle veered off the roadway for reasons yet unknown, struck a concrete barrier and caught fire.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that both Zampella, the driver, and a passenger who were ejected from the vehicle died from their injuries.

Witnesses shared videos online showing the mangled cherry-red Ferrari engulfed in flames on the mountain road.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Zampella was a pioneering figure in the gaming industry, widely credited with shaping the first-person military shooter genre.

He co-created the Call of Duty franchise and later founded Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall, Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi games.

Beginning his career in the 1990s as a game designer, Zampella co-founded Infinity Ward in 2002 and helped launch Call of Duty in 2003, a franchise that continues to draw over 100 million active players each month.

Activision later acquired his studio, cementing Zampella’s legacy as one of the most influential figures in modern gaming.

‘Call of duty’ creator killed in car crash

Nigerian actress and media personality, Toke Makinwa has shared her opinion on infidelity disparity between the male and female genders.

Speaking in a recent episode of her Toke Moments podcast, the movie star claimed that women cheat more than men but more discreet.

She explained that it is easier for women to cheat unlike men, who have to spend resources, efforts and time to do so.

Makinwa explained that the realisation that women can also cheat makes her not to regard cheating as a dealbreaker.

She said, “Cheating is not a dealbreaker for me but it comes with a caveat. When I say it some people think that I am encouraging cheating. No. As I grow older, I realised that it is not just men who can cheat. Why are we making these men feel so special as if it is only them?

“Do you know how easy it is for a woman to cheat? It is even easier for us. But men will spend money, efforts and time to cheat.

“But we, we are the ones receiving. It is easier for women to cheat. You know, we have work boyfriend. A woman not cheating is not because she cannot cheat, it is probably because she has one thing you lack, it is strength.

“Women cheat more, but they know how to hide it.”

YouTube has unveiled its official 2025 Nigeria Year-in-Review, spotlighting the music videos, digital creators, and entertainment content that dominated viewing trends among Nigerian audiences over the past year.

The announcement was made through a statement signed by YouTube’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Addy Awofisayo.

Gaise Baba dominated the music category with his viral hit “No Turning Back II,” which features Lawrence Oyor, finishing as the most streamed Nigerian music video on the platform for the year.

The video, which was released in mid-May, quickly spread across the country and gathered more than forty-one million views within six months, earning massive engagement from fans.
