Police arrest notorious drugs dealer, five other criminals in Kano

Police in Kano State have arrested a 25-year-old Hamisu Ali, a notorious drug dealer, and five others suspected to be thugs.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Monday.

The Kano State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat crime.

The statement said the arrests were part of the command’s efforts to curb drug trafficking and other related crimes in the state.

According to the statement, “In an operation conducted by police officers attached to Jaoji Police Division, Kano, a suspected drug dealer, Hafizu Ali, of Jaoji Quarters, Kano, and five suspected thugs were arrested, and various illicit substances and dangerous weapons were recovered from them.”

He said the operation was conducted in line with the guidance and directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to all police commands and formations to implement strategic crime-prevention measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents.

He explained that the suspected drug dealer was found in possession of various illicit substances, including 2,070 suspected Pregabalin capsules and 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa, while four knives, two scissors and an axe were recovered from the suspected thugs.

The State Commissioner of Police, however, commended the officers for their commitment and dedication to duty and thanked the good people of the state for their support and cooperation.

The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
