The Ogun State Police Command has frowned at the alleged assault of Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, while in police custody.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseye Babaseyi on Sunday, noted that an internal investigation was underway and assured that any officer found culpable would face the law.
DAILY POST reports that Portable’s arrest followed allegations of assault against one of his baby mamas,Omobolarinde Akinyanju, better known as Ashabi Simple.
In a video circulating widely on X formerly known as Twitter showed the Zazu crooner was shown in handcuffs, shirtless, and sobbing while sitting on a couch in what looked to be a police holding room.
Reacting to this, the Police spokesperson confirming the arrest on Sunday, reiterated that the command does not condone any form of assault or actions that endanger both the safety of suspects and the integrity of investigations.
“Yes, he was arrested, and he is with us, but that is a different issue. What is important is the assault that was happening at the station. We don’t condone it.
“The investigation is ongoing, and the officers involved, if found culpable, will be sent to the appropriate authorities. That process has already started,” he said.
