At least four children lost their lives on Tuesday evening following a fatal road accident along Afia Road in Baa Stream, near Saaor Village, Benue State.
Eyewitnesses said the crash was severe, with the children reportedly dying on the spot, while several other occupants of the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
According to residents, the vehicle involved in the accident plunged into the stream and was still submerged as at the time of filing this report.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been officially established.
Many called on relevant authorities to urgently improve safety measures along the Afia Road axis to prevent further loss of lives.
Officials were yet to issue an official statement on the accident as of press time.
