A deadly night attack in Pindiga town, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, has left a family shattered.
According to a post on X by Bakatsine on Sunday, a security analyst in the Northwest, armed bandits stormed a private home late at night, killing Prince Yusuf Derdoski and his pregnant sister. Two other members of the family were also abducted by the attackers.
Bakatsine described the incident as sad news.
He added that the attack has plunged Pindiga into deep mourning and shock.
He noted that the killings have revived fears over worsening insecurity in parts of Gombe State, where communities have complained of repeated security breaches.
The incident has also raised fresh questions about the effectiveness of security operations in the area. With attacks happening more frequently, many are asking how security agencies are reviewing their intelligence gathering and response systems to better protect vulnerable towns like Pindiga.
“Given the recurring security breaches in parts of Gombe State, how are security agencies reassessing intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms to protect vulnerable communities like Pindiga?” he asked.
The attack comes as the Nigerian government said it is working with the United States to crush terrorism in the country.
