Troops of the 196 Amphibious Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP collaborator during a routine security operation in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest was made on May 20 at about 8:00 a.m. at the C Company 7 Platoon checkpoint during a routine stop-and-search operation.
According to a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Mrs Kellu Alhaji Abba, was intercepted while allegedly transporting items believed to be supplies meant for suspected terrorists.
She was said to be carrying the supplies to her son, identified as Modu Mustapha, who is allegedly linked to terrorist activities in the Dumba general area of Borno State.
“Items recovered from her included four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs, and one wristwatch,” Makama wrote.
Security sources quoted in the post said the suspect, a Kanuri woman from the Lawanti area of Baga town, is currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation.
Troops confirmed that she has been taken in for further interrogation to determine the extent of her alleged involvement in the logistics network of the terrorist group.
Meanwhile, security sources noted that the overall security situation in the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain strong operational presence.
