The management of TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club, Abuja has lined up for commissioning a number of infrastructural projects that will have far-reaching benefits for members to commemorate Nigeria @65 Independence Golf Tournament.

The Chairman LOC Independence Committee, Dr. James Agbonhese, announced this yesterday at a media briefing to unveil Nigeria @65 Independence Golf Tournament schedule.

The projects to be inaugurated today September 26, include, a midway hut – constructed by Chief Samuel Ayanmele, a back-nine starter shed constructed by Brigadier General DM Onoyiveta (rtd) and a golf cart bay.

Agbonhese said the tournament promises to be exciting and memorable, with a week-long calendar of activities.

He said the tournament had been thoughtfully put together to celebrate the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, as well as the enduring spirit of unity, friendship, and camaraderie that golf represents.

 “As we prepare to tee off on Saturday, 27 September, we are reminded that this event is more than just a sporting competition. It is an opportunity to reflect on the values upon which our dear nation was founded—unity, perseverance, discipline, and excellence,” Agbonhese said.

He thanked sponsors, participants, and supporters whose commitment and contributions made the event possible. 

“I would not forget to thank our Grand Patron, Lt Gen OO Oluyede (Chief of Army Staff), whose tireless support and visionary leadership has ultimately produced this event we will be witnessing this week. Your continued support is vital, not only for the success of this tournament but also for the overall development of this great club and the bonds of community we share”.

The tournament that attracts N20,000 entry fees will tee off on September 27 with Category 3 and Category 4 tournament to be followed on September 28 with a TYB professionals and invitational tournament.

The peak of the schedule that will feature 400 golfers is on  October 1 for category 1 players and on October 2 for the guests and sponsors.
