A truck conveying granite stone on Wednesday, crushed a young man identified as Jelili Soretire to death along Ajebo Road in Abeokuta.

The Volvo truck registered as AAB917ZY rammed into the victim who is an apprentice at the spare parts section of the Mechanic Village.

DAILY POST gathered that Jelili was riding on his bike, on his way to deliver a repaired car door to a customer when the incident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck rammed into Jelili at the failed portion of the road near Kemta Housing Estate, adjacent to the Eco Gas Station in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, with his body stuck under the truck.

The driver of the truck was said to have fled the scene immediately after the accident.

This, however, led to chaos from his colleagues but operatives of the Kemta Police Station returned the atmosphere to normalcy.

Jelili’s body has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.

Efforts to contact the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, proved abortive as her mobile phone was switched off as of the time of filing this report.
