Travel Deeper, Fanny Fine Fibroid Support Group launch month-long awareness campaign

Travel Deeper Inco., in partnership with the Fanny Five Fibroid Support Group, are set to launch a month-long fibroid awareness campaign to educate women and create awareness on fibroid.

The campaign to be launched tomorrow Friday July 5, will cover the entire month.

 In a statement ahead of the launch tomorrow, Travel Deeper, said the campaign aims to raise awareness, provide free health screenings, and offer educational programmes to support holistic wellness and well-being for women in Ghana and also black women around the world. 

Programme of activities spanning the entire month, include the launch on Friday July 5, at the Mixx Design Hub, at Osu in Accra. 

There will also be a ticket event focused on womb wellness which will also include a tea worship and self-care activities. Speaker at the launch will be Travel Deeper’s Kisha Bird, Fanny S. Palmer, a fibroid Awareness Ambassador, AbibiNsroma Foundation’s Mavis Logon, as well as Conscious Warriors, Coach Kamshuka Barrocks.

Travel Deeper specializes in curated travel experience to West Africa and support local artisans and entrepreneurs, and connecting black people across the diaspora through partnership, public discourse and community conversations. 

About Kisha Bird

Kisha Bird is a seasoned leader working with philanthropy, NGOs, and community leaders, focused onequity and social justice. She has over 20 years of experience in coalition building, policy development, and developing strategies for movements to impact social change.

 In 2020, she followed her passion and pan-African roots and founded Travel Deeper Inc., a travel service and brand that helps the global Black diaspora travel to Africa and connect with their roots.

Travel Deeper partners with brands, non-profit organizations and movement leaders to elevate social, health and economic issues that connect Black people across the diaspora.

In 2023, she started A Journey to Womb Wealth and Wellness- Fibroid Awareness Campaign birthed from her own healing journey. She currently serves on the board of the African American Association of Ghana as its treasurer.

She holds a master of social service and master of law and social policy from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research; and earned a bachelor’s in sociology from Spelman College. 

About Fanny S. Palmer and Fanny Fine Fibroid Support Group

Fanny S. Palmer is the Founder of the Fanny Fine Fibroid Support Group in Ghana. She is a Fibroid Awareness Ambassador. Aunty Fanny is a fibroid survivor who has been a patient advocate for several years after she had survived from several fibroid surgeries that nearly took her life.

She is a strong advocate for a holistic approach towards women’s wellness and the treatment of fibroid. She is the author of a book titled “Defeat Fibroid and Be Free.” She holds a Master’s of Arts Degree from Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone. She is the lead champion of breaking the silence fibroid campaign in order to encourage and support women suffering from fibroid to take charge of their health and know that they are not alone.

 In Ghana, she has been advocating for a complete inclusion of uterine fibroid treatment into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) treatment list for Ghanaian women.
