Eric Chelle, head coach of Super Eagles, has addressed Victor Osimhen’s reaction after substituting the Galatasaray attacker during Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Tanzania on Tuesday.

Chelle made the change in the 86th minute of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, opener which visibly affected Osimhen and led to questions during the post-match press conference.

Speaking on the matter, Chelle disclosed that he had already talked with the former Napoli striker.

“We talked and it will stay between him and me,” Chelle said.

“If you want more information, you’ve to tell Osimhen to ask me,” he insisted.

Meanwhile, Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman scored the goals for Chelle’s side against the Taifa Stars.

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, will serve a touchline ban for their next Premier League game against Aston Villa.

This follows his booking against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Maresca picked up his third yellow card of the season in the 2-2 draw at St James Park.

The Italian will now be forced to watch their next match from the stands.

Chelsea came from two goals down to salvage a point with Reece James and Joao Pedro on target after a first-half brace from Nick Woltemade.

Maresca was also shown a yellow card by referee Andy Madley with the referee determining he was a little overzealous in his complaints around the hour-mark.

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has urged his team to stay focused on Marrakech, training sessions, and their next game against Algeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chelle’s side will tackle the Desert Foxes in the AFCON last-8 on Saturday evening in Marrakech.

Nigeria recently secured a victory over Mozambique in their previous AFCON encounter, while Algeria triumphed against DR Congo.

“I prefer to remain focused now on Marrakech, and there is a game to play, and after the game we can think about our accommodation,” Chelle said via Yahoo Sports.

“The story starts in Marrakech, so we have to stay focused on Marrakech, training sessions, and the next game.”

Nigeria’s clash with Algeria is set to kick off at 5 pm, Nigerian time.
