President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed satisfaction with the recent breakthroughs recorded by Nigeria’s security agencies, following the rescue of dozens of kidnapped citizens in Kwara and Niger states.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, the President revealed that all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been successfully freed.
He further confirmed that 51 of the students earlier declared missing from a Catholic school in Niger State have also been recovered.
President Tinubu added that he cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally coordinate the nation’s security response, stressing that his priority remains the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians.
“You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home,” he wrote. “Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered.”
He added that he is closely monitoring developments across the country and receiving continuous updates from frontline operatives.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring security nationwide, the President pledged that no Nigerian would be abandoned under his leadership.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he assured.
The President signed off the statement in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, further underlining the urgency and seriousness with which the government is addressing the security challenges confronting the nation.
