Troops have disrupted a major logistics route used by terrorist groups in Zamfara State following the arrest of a suspected ammunition courier in Shinkafi Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Shamsiyya Ahadu, was intercepted in the Badarawa axis of Shinkafi while allegedly transporting a large cache of ammunition meant for armed groups operating in the area.
Security sources disclosed that operatives recovered 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six rifle magazines from her during the operation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was reportedly destined for a camp linked to notorious terror kingpin, who has remained on the security watchlist for years over his involvement in deadly attacks across parts of the North-West.
Also arrested in connection with the operation was the motorcycle rider conveying the suspect, identified as Ahmed Husaini. Both suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation to uncover their network and identify other possible collaborators.
Military authorities noted that the arrest underscores the growing use of civilian couriers, including women, in the movement of weapons and ammunition for terror groups.
They reaffirmed that they will sustain aggressive patrols, intelligence-led operations, and clampdowns on logistics and supply chains supporting armed groups in Zamfara and neighbouring states.
