Super Eagles: Chelle hands Rangers defender maiden call-up for Iran, Jordan friendlies

Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez has been handed his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles for the upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan, DAILY POST reports.
Fernandez has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in Scotland.
The 24-year-old arrived at Ibrox from Peterborough United last summer.
The centre-back has scored five times in 20 league appearances for the Gers.
Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has convinced the player to commit his international future to Nigeria.
According to the Ibrox News, Fernandez will join the Super Eagles for the upcoming friendlies next week.
The Super Eagles will take on 2026 World Cup-bound Iran on March 27 in Antalya, Turkey, before another friendly against Jordan four days later.

Bayern Munich manager, Vincent Kompany, has told his Benfica counterpart, Jose Mourinho, that he made a “huge mistake” during the alleged racist incident involving Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius claimed he was racially abused by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni during their Champions League play-off in midweek.

The incident happened after the Brazilian winger scored the only goal of the game.

After the match, Mourinho suggested Vinicius provoked the home fans with his celebration following the goal.

But Kompany told the media today: “You have the leader of an organisation, Jose Mourinho, who attacks the character of Vinicius Jr by bringing in the type of celebration to discredit what Vinicius is doing in this moment.

“In terms of leadership, it’s a huge mistake and something we should not accept.”

Former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, has given reasons Arsenal could win four trophies this season.

The Gunners are vying for glory across four competitions: the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Currently leading the English Premier League, EPL, table by four points over Manchester City, Mikel Arteta’s side has also progressed to the FA Cup Round of 16 stage after their win against Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Arsenal have also reached the Carabao Cup final and are in the Champions League last-16 stage.

“Arsenal could win four trophies. They have built a brilliant team, so they’ve the depth, and they’ve the squad,” Hargreaves stated on TNT Sports.

“They have an opportunity to create something special. They’re the favourites in the Premier League, they were the best team in the Champions League [league phase].”
