Stop maligning our reputation – APC knocks PDP on Senator’s alleged assassination attempt

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from tarnishing its image with unverified allegations and baseless propaganda.

In a statement issued on Friday by the State Secretary, Alhaji Yahaya Baba Pate, the APC dismissed accusations by the PDP implicating the ruling party in an alleged assassination attempt on Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents Kaduna Central in the National Assembly.

Describing the claims as “false and absurd,” the APC urged the PDP to focus on fulfilling its role as a constructive opposition party rather than spreading unsubstantiated allegations.

“Kaduna State remains on a path of growth and stability, and no amount of false narratives or orchestrated incidents will derail this progress,” the statement read.

“The PDP in Kaduna State has developed a troubling reputation for issuing ill-conceived and patently false statements, undermining the seriousness of public discourse.”

The APC highlighted that the Kaduna Police Command has not received a formal complaint from Senator Usman regarding the alleged incident, nor has he cooperated with ongoing investigations.

“Despite repeated attempts by the police to reach him, he remains unresponsive. It is, therefore, baffling how the PDP arrived at its baseless conclusion implicating the APC in this alleged incident,” the party argued.

The ruling party also called on Senator Usman and the PDP to work with law enforcement agents to resolve the matter, warning that failure to do so could fuel suspicions that the alleged assassination attempt is a fabrication aimed at discrediting the APC and disrupting the peace in Kaduna State.

“The APC strongly suspects that certain conflict entrepreneurs are using the PDP to disrupt the remarkable strides achieved under the peace initiatives of Senator Uba Sani’s people-focused and inclusive administration,” the statement added.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to the state’s development and declared that its focus remains on delivering good governance to the people of Kaduna.

“As our governor, Senator Uba Sani, has declared, 2025 is our Year of Fulfillment. We will not be distracted by baseless allegations or needless provocations,” the APC stated.

The party reiterated its call for the opposition to uphold the standards of responsible political engagement, emphasizing that Kaduna’s peace and progress must remain paramount.
