The School Management Committee (SMC) for the Independence Avenue Cluster of Schools in the Ashiedu-Keteke Sub-Metropolitan District of the Ga Mashie Circuit in the Greater Accra Region has donated a set of musical instruments, sewing machines, and plastic chairs to the schools to empower, uplift, and inspire the school children.
The items worth 15,000 Ghana Cedis were aimed at investing in talent, opportunity, and building confidence among the school children.
Presenting the items, the Dzasete Asere of the Ga State, Nii Amarkai III, urged parents to take a more responsible approach towards financial spending, particularly by reconsidering lavish expenses associated with funerals, outdooring ceremonies, and other social events.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing children’s education as a critical investment for their future.
Nii Amarkai III, highlighted that the quality of education requires sacrifice.
“Investing in the education of our children is fundamental to addressing issues like child delinquency and irresponsible behaviour, which often stem from improper upbringing,” Nii Amarkai III, stated.
He added that it exemplified the SMC’s commitment to fostering the holistic development of students in the Ga Mashie area.
Nii Amarkai III, who is also the SMC Chairman of the Independence Avenue Cluster of Schools reiterated that education is a shared responsibility, calling on the community to rally together in support of its future leaders.
He underscored the imperative of intellectual development, cautioning that a nation that neglects its educational responsibilities risks falling behind in the global landscape where knowledge and transformation are paramount.
He also appealed to philanthropists to contribute educational materials to enhance the learning environment, asserting that collective efforts are vital for the improvement of the schools within the cluster.
The Amartse We Manye of Asere, Naa Amorkor Shikafutru I, who is also a member of the SMC reaffirmed the SMC commitment to nurturing talent and empowering students through practical education and underscored the importance of integrating arts, vocational training, and basic amenities into the learning environment.
“In a world where self-sufficiency is becoming more critical, we see vocational skills as a vital part of modern education. These machines will help students, especially our young women and men with entrepreneurial ambitions, develop practical skills that can open doors to real livelihoods in the future.” She explained.
She also announced an upcoming borehole project to be constructed on the school grounds, aimed at addressing the challenge of access to clean water.
Naa Amorkor Shikafutru I, concluded with a passionate message to the students, “Our work as a School Management Committee is only meaningful when it transforms lives.
She noted that these initiatives of musical instruments, sewing machines, and the borehole to be constructed are symbols of hope, empowerment, and their shared belief in the future of the students.
Receiving the items, the Head of EMIS and Statistics, and the Deputy Director of the Accra Metro Education Directorate, Asare Boahene Emmanuel, commended the School SMC of the Ga Mashie Circuit for its timely and impactful donation to the Independence Avenue Cluster of Schools describing the gesture as a significant contribution toward effective teaching and learning.
He encouraged other circuits across the Accra Metro area to take inspiration from the example set by the Ga Mashie SMC, noting that such partnerships are crucial to improving the quality of education.
