Hot SourceThe SIC Ladies Association (SICLA), the all-female staff association of SIC Insurance PLC, has unveiled a series of activities to commemorate this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As part of efforts to intensify education and early detection, SICLA, will offer free breast screening throughout October, except Sundays at the Bob Freeman Clinic, located near SIC’s Head Office in Osu, Accra.
Under the theme “Catch it early; treat it; survive it!”, the initiative seeks to promote early diagnosis and reduce the physical, emotional, and financial burden of breast cancer on patients and their families.
President of SICLA, Muriel Ashong, emphasized the importance of early detection, noting that it “saves lives and reduces the burden on patients and their families.” She encouraged women to take advantage of the free screening exercise at the Bob Freeman Clinic.
As part of the awareness drive, SICLA will also host a “Pinky Breeze Health Walk” on Saturday, October 11, 2025, starting at 7:30 a.m. from the Nyemitei House Head Office. The walk, aimed at promoting healthy living and awareness, will end at Laboma Beach, where additional breast screening exercises will continue until 3:00 p.m.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed globally every October, focuses on promoting screening, education, and support for individuals affected by the disease. With its signature pink theme, the campaign highlights the importance of early detection and lifestyle awareness in reducing breast cancer risks, which affect an estimated 2.3 million women worldwide.
