Hot SourceGhanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has been detained by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following an inquiry into the tax obligations of a yellow Lamborghini vehicle.
The artist’s management, through his PRO Samuel Atuobi Baah, confirmed the detention in a statement released to the media.
According to the statement, Shatta Wale voluntarily presented himself at the EOCO offices this afternoon, accompanied by his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to assist with the ongoing investigations.
While the statement refers to the matter as an “inquiry related to tax obligations,” multiple reports from earlier this month indicated that the Lamborghini Urus was seized by EOCO in a joint operation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The vehicle was reportedly linked to a convicted Ghanaian-American fraudster and identified as a criminal asset.
Shatta Wale’s management is urging the public and his fans to remain calm and refrain from speculation.
“We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter,” the statement read.
It added that they are “taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity.”
